Hi everybody,

I am growing AK47 and was wondering what you thoughts are on its readiness? I am not in a hurry per say but like a real chop I forgot to mark the day of start of flowering but it was roughly the begin of January so its getting on 8 weeks.

How does she look so far? Comments or thoughts?
Thanks!

Really?? Oh yea! I've got a Northern Lights just just behind her but I think she will need a bit longer. Also have a Mazar which is looking very nice but I know they take about 9 weeks usually. Just needed some affirmation, will post pics of the other two also, thanks!

I agree with Palmerrdgrower. If you could get us a shot at the trichomes would help! In my experience, if your not sure..... wait another week. Ive never grown any of the AK's but some strains balloon in that last week!!

Fantstico! I have found that turning an ordinary camera lens around and viewing through that make a great macro lens for trich inspection, I will try get a shot to share, but its very hard because of camera shake. Yes I have also heard AK can put alot or weight on the last while so I don't want to be hasty. The pistils seem to be getting to the right curled back stage you guys think? There are still a few longer ones lower down the plant. Do you recommend when the trichs are ready to chop on the tops and let the bottoms nuggets go a bit longer?

Yea not too bad of a shot! I would personally wait till you see more amber trichomes. (Something like 10%?) Maybe another week? Hopefully she'll swell up in that week!? As for the lower buds at this stage if you want more size from them then the only real way would be to harvest the tops when ready and drop the light a little and keep flowering for another week or two. Youll also have to consider potential gains from that and the extra flowering time/expenses. And may not be worth that extra little weight if you are doing a perpetual and slowing down turnover? Just some food for thought..... either way, looks like your going to have some tasty AK47!!

Thanks for the reply and excellent points to ponder! Oweee yea I am stoked! I think I'll let her sit for about another week then and keep a close eye on the trichs, 10-20% amber is my goal I think. I am running perpetual but I have a bit of time before the next girls need to go in. I've got a power plant mainline lined up which is taking this plants spot and new NL and AK clones moving up after that. I do plan on doing a grow journal sometime as soon as I am dialed in finally. Using a custom 200w COB and 2 x groline 85w mixed spec tubes. So far been quite impressed considering wattage. I love this site, its taught me so much, thanks again for the input!

Ive been growing perpetually for about 4 years now but am new to this site. Have finally joined hmm power plant, meant to be a big yielder off the top of my head.... I've grown northern lights before. Very low odour, bug and disease resistant and man she can take a beating! Good strong strain. Couldnt quite see your setup, and you may not need to if your mainlining but my yield went up considerably when i started using a scrog net! It will help with your lower buds as they will get light throughout your grow also and you don't need as highly powered lights to get a good yield as you will have a shorter more even canopy that wont require as much light penetration! Just throwing it out there! And let us know if that extra week was worth it

Thanks a stack man, no worries about the likes :) I thought about the scrog too and have a larger net in place, will take a proper pic in light tomorrow and show you. My lights aren't adjustable though, my pots are recessed and move up and down as needed but the nice thing about that is when I do scrog I can use one net for multiple different height strains. I run 3 at a time in my closet/box and have a separate cloning area.

You guys rock. I'll take a few pics of the complete setup and other 2 ladies for interest sake asap. I was skeptical the Ak was so close so I wouldn't mind some opinions on the Mazar and Northern too please. Do love my classics and the Mazar looks dangerous already.. I'm so amped. I would actually really appreciate some input on a scrog in the space once I post it too, I do agree it would increase yields but I ended up mainlining this next run to compare to a scrog in the following one. Using custom homemade soil mix. And currently I use a very loose wide net just for bending and some support. The light penetration is the big thing though and will probably be the deciding factor for me scrogging in the future. Will also show you guys my outdoor if you're keen, I really could use some advice on them too. Btw all legal grow. Will update in the am. Cheers and thanks again everyone. So nice to finally share with the community after getting so much from it all the years lurking.

Sensison, would love to see the other girls! And yes throw some photos up of your setup! It may take you a few runs to maximise the full potential of scrog. It's all about timing, when to flip depending on scrog space and at what time to let them grow towards the light (usually strain dependant) i remember my 1st scrog, bending and tying for the 1st week then let her go and she kept stretching into week 4! So kinda defeated the purpose of scrog but learnt to keep bending for a little longer. It's all trial and error and trying to learn off other people's mistakes so you don't have to make them. "Wink" haha.

I do plan on getting a better fan on the right and I run two of the tubes you see there, they are dual spec switchable or 50/50 mix at the same Watts!. In order, AK, NL, Mazar
