AK-47 vs AK-48

What's the difference? Most of the feedback I found on this forum made statements similar to the following:

- AK48 is a close relative of AK47. Not the same strain
- AK48 is simply Nirvana's knockoff of SS AK47. Same strain
- AK48 is a strain that finishes in 48 days, hence the name

Does anyone really know what the difference is between the two? For those of you who have smoked/grown both, how similar are they? Are they interchangeable? Can one be mistaken for the other?

it does NOt finish in 48 days as far as I'm told despite the name. It could just be an F2 or even more unstable knockoff of ak47. it's not the original, but it's still really damn close.

I smoked some AK-48 this past weekend with a friend that grew it, I wasn't able to tell a distinct difference taste wise from AK-47. However I haven't tried as many strains as a lot of you so my pallet isn't as experienced.

Ak-47 is the original ak strain by Serious Seeds.
Ak-48 is the nirvana knock-off version of Serious' Ak-47.
It does not finish flowering in 47-48 days. It's more like 63-70 days.
Ak does not stand for Afghani Kush. It is named after the russian assault rifle of the same name. Not out of violence, but meaning a 1 hit wonder.

ak48 probably jst ak47 crops which have been imbred along a certain pheno. maybe they even tried adding in something new to the genetics. it looks interesting though, probably abit of variety to it.

I ordered some a little while back. The seeds look very healthy although I haven't tried popping them yet. On Nirvana's site they say it's a 7-9 week finisher, but they also say it may finish in 48 days, which is just shy of 7 weeks.

From Nirvana's page : AK marijuana strains have been gaining popularity steadily since the mid-1990s. Our AK-48 is one of the strongest early-finishing strains available anywhere. Plants produce hard buds with an exceptional and penetrating aroma. Although AK-48 is a Cannabis Indica/Sativa hybrid, its effect tends toward the 'high' commonly produced by Sativas. Although most growers will opt for a longer vegetative period to improve taste, under perfect conditions, AK-48 may finish in as few as 48 days.

They may look similar ones sativa and ones more indica idk why but go on Nirvana and ask the chat person is Ice x Jock Horror=AK 48
I grew an Ak48 a good 7yrs ago I was given a seedling in a pot consisting of its pilot leaves its 1st finger leaves were established with its 3 fingered leaf starting to apair..i was asked to veg it, find out the sex then mother and clone it which was done with success.. So about this 48 days in flower to harvest thing..in my own experience with Ak48 my flower period was 56 days to harvest day.. I thought to myself it could have been pulled a week earlier but i never pulled it before my calender date. ,, . Ak48 was indica dominant.. very dense, dank, frosty and aromic,.. and ice x jock horror= Ak48,, cool.. I wonder if jock horror and jack hearer are related?? Il research this.. Because my Ak48 was visually simular to a jack hearer which was given to me as a sprouted seedling they had simular grow traits, bud formation were simular only in how the calyxs were formed with the 48 having multi coloured pistol hairs ranging from white, Orange, pink, red purple and brown.. taste and smells where simular as in rich, sweet, earthy, fruits but when squeezed at the bud they where totally different... anyway my roll it up.fam. I've edited the shit out of this..please take this peice of my experience that I have had as just that my experience I had with Ak48. I recommend the 48 and in time would love to get my hands on this seed/strain again.. and apologies to not mentioning of the beautiful Ak47 well here it is ive not had an opportunity to grow this strain and sounds like I may never get an original 47 seed.. it's been 15years+ since the last time I tasted Ak47.. it was a very popular strain in the late 90s here in n.z. so 1nce again readers. Great grows happy harvesting and r.i.u churr.
