Air Intake question for a 4x7 closet

Hi guys first off i am running a 1000 watt hps in a 4'w x 7'L x 8'H closet, exhuast is running into attic via 6" inline fan(carbon, magnumum xxxl then fan in that order). when I shut the door there is a good 1/2 inch of space between the floor and the door is this enough to get air into the closet?? I also have a 16" oscilating fan on the inside running 24/7 to move the air. Im not worried about light leaking becuase i blacked out my windows. any advice??

A good rule of thumb is to have the intake area be 2x the area of your outtake. You have 36 sq. inches of outtake, so 72 sq. inches is a good starting place. A 3' door with 1/2 inch only gives you 18 sq. inches, so I would say you will need much more than what you have, especially with 1000w.

The reply you have had is correct.

If you have a 6inch fan then you need at least 2x6inch holes or a hole with the same surface area as 72sq inches.

If you have your exhaust into your attic, is your attic properly vented to disperse the heat?

If you have and your attic stays pretty cool then you could always add another 2 6inch holes into your attic and duct your air down through the room to the floor. Remember to use some stockings/pantyhose over the ducts.

This is kind of what i do. I have my lighting system venting into my chimney stack (no grow room air passes through this system) and my exhaust straight out into my attic. With the addition of some Soffit vents that i fitted to my soffit boards, some conveniently positioned right by my growing area, i am able to duct cool air from my roof line passively through some intake holes with ducting directing the air to the floor.

Thanks for the response I tied into my bathroom ducting to vent outside. Attic is hot as hell no way to take air from there(does have a ridge vent). I just bought a high velocity blower fan I am assuming the air intake are on the side of the fan I am gonna call manufacturer to confirm. But if the fan works like I think it does I am gonna get a trash bag and zip tie to front of fan and the other end of bag I will put under door this should solve the intake prob by taking air from the bedroom and intaking it into closet.

Trash bag idea is a no go Im gonna have to get a vent and cut a hole in drywall didnt want to do it but I got no choice....

I get my fresh air from a crawwlspace (conventional foundation)..stealthy and cooler than outside....I use an auto type air filter for intake....
