Agromax UV burn, caution

After using reptile lights for supplemental UV, I went and bought 2 4ft t5 Agromax Pure UV bulbs, 54 watts each. Had them about 3 feet from the canopy for 4 hours x 2 days. I didn't recognize the stress after day 1. Thankfully only 1 plant was in the tent when I installed the UV bulbs.

I'm guessing the Agromax puts out a lot more UV then even the biggest UV reptile bulbs. The leaves in the under canopy burnt worse paradoxically. The bigger exposed fan leaves tolerated it better. So start at 15 min a day and work up. Watch for stress.

These pics were taken a week apart.

Running it 3 minutes per hour and yeppers you are very right this bulb is dangerous

Got blisters on my back after being 8 inches away from it for less than 30 seconds

If using this bulb, protect yourself !!!!!

Glad you mentioned the skin burn. I felt like I was getting burnt on the back of my neck when they came on the second day. Crazy how much radiation they put out. What kind of timer are you using? The push pins only do 15 minutes, and areally hard to synchronize.

Doin it manually at the moment, while looking for a reliable digital timer

they are equal to the sun at 3 feet, at a foot they are triple the UVB from the sun
