Afraid to even breathe on this baby!

1st time grow
2 different issues - one has dangerously thin stem; other seems to have stopped after breaking soil
IMG_0493.JPGIMG_0492.JPG
Seeds: Auto Fem Northern Lights
Indoor
Using Germinationkit.com growing medium - put seeds in Friday night (10 pm) - only 2.5 days old!
Soil - damp; surrounded by perlite also damp (water mixed with Bacto - supposed to contain beneficial micro-organisms).
Temp 78 - 81
Humidity - kept at 75-80 during germination, then backed off gradually (over 12 hours) to 50 once broken through soil.

1) Thin stem: I realized the thin stem meant it was too far away from the light, so I moved it closer (stem was thin and long, but not this bad). Have since covered/propped up thin stem with soil, have had a fan on low blowing since start (air speed low enough that it isn't blowing plant over - just enough to regulate temp/humidity). Tip has become darker and thin part of stem has brownish cast. Concerned the heat is burning it. Any hope it's going to make it?
2) No growth - only concerned because it's been in the same conditions as the other seed and the other took off so quick. No change for almost a day (I know, early days, but just checking in case I need to change something). Looks like it's become browner since moved closer to lights (1 in from fluorescents).

Thanks for any feedback.

put it back in soil just leaving the shell ontop of the soil but put everything else under soil because the root is exposed and u dont want that

i agree with BUDS, you really want to germinate in a paper towel and then transplant into a "moist" but not "wet" soil, once the seed has sprouted a tap root the need for 90-100% humidity is gone and you can let it dry out a bit.

agreed, you can try to rescue the thin stemmed one, add dirt around it to prop it up, and heat it up! lose the dome, and hope the reduced humidity and higher heat dont allow for rot to grow

The one in your first pic is prolly fine. Keep an eye on it, and you might have to get a toothpick, and gently pull off that seed husk, but generally it will work it's self out.

I thought it might be fucked, so going on the assumption that I couldn't hurt anything, I decided to dig down further into the soil to see what the rest of the stem looked like.

The stem is still too thin, but do you see any rot? For now I've just covered it all back up with soil and have it under the lights at 81 degrees - can't hurt to leave it and see what it does.

As for the other seed - I dug around it some - that was the taproot sticking up! Dang thing still hasn't rooted. So - turned the taproot down, covered back with soil. Maybe it'll sort itself and finish sprouting (fingers crossed).

My guess is it wasn't buried enough when you planted it, it should emerge from the soil, not have roots and such visible.

There's so much conflicting info out there - guess I erred on the wrong side when planting. What is the suggested depth under soil to plant?

my suggestion is to plant the stem looking part deeper into the soil and hope it straightens out, usually at the point its at now theres not much you can do.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Right now I'm assuming both are lost. If the situation improves, I'll update & add pics. Heading to home depot tomorrow to get some more supplies (mainly lights) and make sure I have anything and everything I can think I'll need before germing any more.
