I use the yoyo hangers. Just don't tighten it or loosen it too much to avoid fucking up the mechanism. Otherwise once you get it just right it holds your light and you can just zip it up and down and it'll stay there. I like them but admit they can be ruined easily by misuse.

hello guys,

Sorry it's been so long since my last update, but school is really getting tough right now.

I am a apprentice carpenter, with not much experience in the field, so it takes alot of studying for me to get through it, plus we just started roof trusses, which is apperantly the hardest.

On top of all that i just started a shitty part-time job to pay for this set-up, lol.

Sorry about the venting, i guess that was building up all week, lol.

So on to the plants. sense i bought the 1000w, temps have been the real bitch, pretty much been at exactly 30C with every cooling device i can think of, i did just buy yet another fan so i hope that helps when i set it in( i have to build a box to mount it in) so i guess i will just keep buying fans one at a time if i have to, i wish i had the cash to buy another vortex like i have, but i guess i will have to wait for afew checks to come in first.

I have been making sure all the water i give them is 6.4 exactly, but one of the three plants is still not looking good, i think it might be a wekness to the high temps this one plant has.

Clones are still looking good, so i should be ready for my next gropw right away after this one. iI have pushed my harvest date to July 1(HAPPY CANADA DAY!!) so that if my harvest isen't big enough, it should be potant!!

I plan on cutting another clone soon, as i want 4-5 plants on my next grow, but i am abit worried about cutting this late in flower. I fiqure i will go to my shop and get some rooting stuff aswell to help.

Anyway guys, sorry about rambling on, but i hope these pics will make up for it..

Thanks as always.

i have the yo yo's aswell, do you think they will hold this hood i have? lucky me i dont have to adjust the light at this point any more.

I struggled with getting my temps under control in my closet grow too, once I got my 1k light.

Ultimately, I had to invest in an AC unit to control the temps...

Are you able to draw any fresh air into the room that the closet is in? When the lights are on, do you keep the closet door open or closed?

Give me a recap on how you are moving your air....I am a stoner and forgot :bongsmilie:

I keep the flap(or door) open at all times when a light is on. i have a vortex 177cfm pulling air from outside and throwing it directly under my light. I have a fan that oscilates blowing over the plants at all times of the day, and i have a ionic breez just outside the threshold oscilating and blowing my plants with air. I am going to but another stand up oscilating fan when i get paid.

This pic shows the two fans, plus there is a vent that leads from the vortex that is not shown

So in a despirate move to bring my temps down, i have basiclly ripped apart my grow closet, making it a open closet in my room, i hope this ;lets air circulate better, thus bring me down to about 28C, i hope!!

The plants have definitly seemed to have stunted thier growth, which i am sure is my fault for not getting these temps down, though i assure everyone i do have a plan to combat it, it's just gonna take me two weeks to get the cash.

On the clone front, i just bought some rooting compond called "Roottech" and have just taken another hopeful clone, i also bought some peat pellets for this one, so i hope they work. I want to have 5 clones for the very day this grow is done, so i can start another one.

Hey Everybody,

I finally made up my mind and started a seperate journel for my clones, hope everyone subscibes Link is here and in my Sig

https://www.rollitup.org/general-marijuana-growing/194899-afghan-dream-clones-updated-pics.html#post2508617

Edit: It keeps showing my link as tags, so use my sig link.
Hey bro... I subscribed to the new thread... I can understand not wanting to make your little clones feel bad about themselves sharing a journal with those big bad plants you have flowering.

I just saw one of those tower fans in action the other day.... those work really well, huh. I thought so at least.

oh, and the link you posted worked fine for me.

keep it up.

Hey Everyone,

So i was just on jigg`s thread, and i love his video idea again, and i even stole the background music idea, lol, thanks jigg. So here is a video of my grow and my clones.

i know my temps are off the charts, but i really have no way to bring them down till two weeks when i get paid, so i hope i dont fuck em up too bad!!

so i have been seeing abit of growth, so i don't think i have fucked them too bad with the heat, maybe i am creating a strain that can handle it!!

The smell is starting to really kick in, i need to get another fan before i get a filter, esspecially since smell aint to much an issue.

The plant on the left of the room starting bending under it's weight, so i tied those up for support.

There will be a update on my clones aswell in a hour or so, link is in my sig!!

Your main colas are FAT man. What's the deal with the plant on the right... did it get the heat worse than the other two? Also, did you top that one and not the others... it seems like they have main cola's while that one is spread out (forgive me if you already said all this stuff before).

the one on the right seems to be much more intolerant to heat/ph then the other two, it isen't looking so good, though the buds dont look as big, up close they do look good, this is the plant i wonty be clong from anymore.

The middle plant was the only one not topped, the one on the left has like 4-5 very good colas, the one on the right was topped but because of stress never really took off, the one in the middle was untouched, i did this to see the difference.

I know you haven't smoked it or anything, but do you have a preference now... untopped vs topped?

Topped!!!From what i am viewing, def topped is better, not that the untopped one isent good, but the topped looks like a bigger yeild

So i managed to get the cash together to begin to tackel my heat issue. I bought 4 vent reducers, 2 were `8 inch to 6 inch and two were 6 inch to 4 inch.

Maybe i should explain alittle, my air cooled reflecter has a 8inchintakeandoutput, so i had to fiqure a way to hook it to the 4 inch vent i already have, so i hook it up and got my vortex back in the room exchausting the heat fromn the top up^the room, through the reflextor and out of the closet into the main room(if temps are a issue again i will consider making a filter and exchausting outside)

But in the mean time my temps are at 29C, so i am very optimistic this hasd helped!!

Hey bro... looking official with the dual reducer enclosure action going on.... That thing looks like a spaceship, haha.

Here's something you might try later if things get warmer again. My suggestion is to set things up kind like my closet... here's what I mean. Right now you have 1 inline fan exhausting the grow room air, then cooling the light. You might make things cooler simply by making the intake air cooler. I mean instead of the vortex fan drawing warm air from the grow space, hang that ducting over the door and let it hang down as low as possible, drawing cool, low to the ground, non-grow room air, push that over your light.

My guess is that the lower air temps will lower the temp of the light significantly, and lower the temp of the grow space. So... I think by taking away the grow room 'exhuast' you will eliminate the need for a grow room exhaust (at least while the door is open). Does that make any sense? I don't know if it would work like I hope, and it seems like you have things figured out for the time being, but thought I'd give you that idea in case you get bored over the weekend.

:peace:

edit: I just looked again and you don't have a door, haha. Whatever, just get the intake a foot away from the grow space real close to the ground. With the 'door' open all the time, there is no need for a room exhuast for anything other than heat (in my mind anyways) especially with all your floor fans.

Thanks jig!!

I accually used to have the exchaust on my window pulling in fresh air, i only changed it around to tey and cool and exchaust, i'll say this though, you are absolutly right, if the temps go up even a degree, i will be doing it that way

Do you think it matters if the vortex is before or after the light? what I mean to say is, if you had the vortex pulling air over the light and then pushing it out, rather than pushing air over everything. Only wondering because in my "hypothetical" setup I have a carbon filter with a can fan pulling air through it. That air is pushed from the can fan through ducting and then through a ventilated reflector. The exhaust of the reflector is connected to more ducting which connects to the intake of my 424 cfm vortex (I run it on a dimmer to control the velocity... very nice for heat control) and then I run the exhaust of the vortex out through a vent in the top of the door. Because of my location I have an intake vent at the bottom of the door and the door itself stays closed all the time. I have a 400 W HPS but my buddy wants a 1000 and I just wanted some input on whether or not to follow a similar setup. Nice grow and setup, btw.
