Aerospaced Grinders Are Crap

I was in the market for a medium-sized 4pc grinder. Never owned an herb grinder before, my friend insists that I get a Space Case. I go to the headshop and she shows me the Space Case for $90, and then this Aerospaced knockoff for $40. It looked exactly the same to me. Guess which I picked...

Inside of 90 days I was finding metal shavings in my grindage. The screen was affixed via a sloppy bead of hot glue. Herb would get stuck between teeth, in the holes, etc. and I was constantly poking shit thru, stirring, etc. It starting making a squeaking noise when I turned it, I guess from being gunked up.

After whining for 2 weeks and 50 "told you so"'s I finally said fuck it and got the new black titanium Space Case. After another 3 months I cannot claim any of the above problems. It is fascinating to me that a simple product like a grinder can vary so much in quality between 2 seemingly identical products.

Save yourself the trouble, just get the Space Case. You'll end up getting it eventually anyhow.

I've had 2 cheap 4 piece grinders from online. First one was great, no problems at all, and the screen was held in place by a metal ring so you could take it out and smoke the screen. My other one used to put off metal shavings but it eventually stopped after a while. Other than that it's pretty good but I couldn't figure out how to get the screen out.

I'm sure there are bad ones out there though.

Would you guys honestly say a grinder is better than a scissors? cause to me, I don't know if my
Grinder is crap but it scraps all the trics from the bud, but a scissors is just the best.

A crap grinder will do that- and make it seems like you're just squishing it all- improperly cured wed will add to that...

Holding the bud in your fingers will squish it and all the trichs will rub off on your hands and on the blades and you might flick little bits of weed everywhere by accident- I've seen even seasoned smokers do it. Then again I've seen plenty of people drop the weed fumbling with both halves of a grinder. Often use a 10"razor blade to almost shave the weed lol. The joys of being an art student.

But I guess the bottom line is if you are happy with what you have got, so be it; If you are going to buy a grinder, you might as bloody well invest in a reeaaaally good one.

The ideer with a good 4pc grinder you're catching all the kief anyhow, so want not waste not. I can see where scissors would be better than some grinders (like the Aerospaced even), but the Space Case is effortless and consistent with its results. Gotta be way easier than scissors...
