Thanks, Aerogarden seems to be taboo around here.

They are good for vegging and clones , For Flowering a HPS is the best choice for all your time and effort ..Ive tried it a few times with CFL's and still got fluffy light buds ,, with a HPS you'll get dense tight buds

Well, I have watched a few grows...

Even got a harvest out of my aerogarden once...

I used the "figure 8" cord and a timer for the light... and started with 3" clones on 12/12...

Major LST and 8 weeks later I had 6" tall and 13" wide... "Buds on Roots"...

My total dry and cured weight was 1.2 Oz. of very delicious bud... excellent high too...

With that being said...

I upgraded the AG 13.7 times...

At one point I had over 15 CFLs around it...

The set up at harvest time included:

1 x 35 watt HPS
2 x 70 watt HPS
1 x 100 watt MH
5 x 26 watt CFL

That is over 400 watts, and the buds were still not like I have seen in real grows...

That is when I decide to make my own and go with a 400 HPS... so I bought a 600 watt HPS/MH (switch-able ballast) and added a cool tube... fans... thermostats... hahaha do you see where this is going????

Anyways, I would run 12/12 from day one, otherwise you will run out of light...

Oh! and I added an airstone and pump to add bubbles (oxygen) to the solution (water in the reservoir)...

You can raise the hood... but that only puts the light further away from most of the plant...

Tie it down, keep it short and the light close...

My two cents...:o but I am a newb too... so take it with a grain of salt...

Here are some pics .... some useful links in my signature...

Best of Luck and Merry Ho Ho Ho!!!!

IMHO the AeroGarden is great for producing smallish quantities of quality herbage. It's pretty easy to use (even by someone who really never gardened before) and not too expensive.

The AG haters are right that the yield is not super-great with this setup, but I knew that going in and I'm happy with it. It was fun!

Thanks for actually answering the question on when to start 12/12, the guy took the time to link me 5 different threads of "HI GUSY IM SUBSCRIBING" instead of just answering. Pictures are worth a thousand words, that's exactly what I planned to do with it.
