Aerogarden Pro 200 First Timer!

I just got the aerogarden pro 200. I plan on growing for personal use and this seems like a fun little project!

Today I put my germinated seeds into the pods and they are currently under a 24/7 light now.

The growing started on 11/22/08.

I am going to be using liquid karma for my nutrients during the germinating phase.

Today I put in 1/4 of a tablespoon of the liquid karma.

Hopefully these things will start sprouting very soon!

If you guys have any tips on using the aerogarden please do tell me.

The nutrients I am using overall will be
- Liquid Karma
- Pure Blend Pro Gro
- Pure Blend Pro Bloom

The seeds I used are basically random seeds from good weeds here and there...

I will be ordering some online if I can find a company who will ship to CA.

I will also be buying a timer from radioshack asap. For now the 24/7 lights will be on for the germinating process

If I am doing anything wrong or you think you can help me out please do reply since this is my first time.

Thanks for reading this and I will be posting pictures every time my plants do something different! :bigjoint:

you really dont need any nutes durring germination - let the seeds sprout before adding nutes. Looking Good - I use a similar set up as well - for germination only bottled water- humidity is important for them to sprout - try to keep the temp around 80 deg farh and humidity around 60-70% - once they sprout and roots start to grow then add the nutes 1/4 streanght for the first couple of days then increase gradually over the course of a week or so. Good luck with the Grow Keep us posted! - I use the same nutes as you - plus a couple extra goodies too!

ditch the foil get some white paint, white plastic sheeting/garbage bags or mylar. you can get mylar cheaper at a craft store than at a hydro shop, itll be in the gift wrap section.

Hey I was thinking about getting some CFL lights for the veg and flowering stages. Should I just get like 2 daylight 120w lights for the veg and then like 2 soft white 120w lights for the flowering?

the walls were already white, should I just take the foil down and get some white plastic sheeting/garbage bags?

Try mylar - shiny gift wrapping paper - 10 feet for 99 cents at most stores - it may be colored on the outside but sure is shiny mylar on the inside - be sure to take a peek when ur at the store to make sure. Once my seeds germinate - pop up and show the first green - I then add Clonex with tap water to help the roots develop - YOu want the roots to start growing about 2-3 weeks into this they should have a good seat of roots - thats when its time to feed them the nutes - if you give them nutes too early the roots wont grow as much.

Thanks a lot man, I am about to get some clonex right now.
How much do you add? Does it tell you on the bottle of the clonex?

how many plants do you plan on having in veg - and how many in flower? How large is your growing area space? Based on that info you give me - i may be able to give a thought on it.

white garbage bags work pretty good, coupled with the fact that theyre highly abundant. but i just picked up some mylar the other day, its like a foldable mirror. heh i also use two giant mirrors too cuz nothing reflects as good as a mirror

I just follow the instructions on the bottle - Clonex is pretty easy to use and helps a lot!

Well I plan on just having 3 plants when its flowering, I just put 5 in for now to try and make sure I have 3 females for sure.

So 3 like most people on here that I have seen successfully grow in a aerogarden. I just want to try and make those 3 produce as much as possible =)

I am also thinking about making a wood box ... or getting something like a rubber shed (at least 7 feet tall) and then putting the mylar all inside of it and then trying to get something to control the temperature of inside of the shed and making this grow as perfect as can be.

I just got some clonex with overnight shipping on its way so hopefully before they sprout up the clonex will be here.

mirrors are mostly frowned apon mate because they can cause hotspots just like the alumninium foil does.

i dont like saying to people not to use things but mylar alone is the best way to go.

do you have personal expeirence using mirrors? cuz i do and i fail to see how a 100 percent reflective and flat surface can cause hot spots, the only reason foil does is because the wrinkles. i have been using my mirrors the whole time no problems at all check my journal

i havent had any hands down experience using them no.

i have researched the use of mirrors for some time now as i to to begin with thought it would be a good idea, i mean come on a mirror is the most reflective thing in ordinary use to man.

but

mirrors arent really suitable for growing. they absorb alot of light instead of reflecting it. and the light they do reflect could create hotspots in your garden and could burn your leaves.

Mirrors waste energy by absorbing only a small fraction of the light that falls on them.

When light, which, like radio waves, is a form of electromagnetic radiation, strikes a metallic mirror the electrons in the metal move just as they do when a radio signal strikes an antenna. Pushing electrons around takes energy, which dims the reflected image.

there's alot of people out there who would agree.

i was only voicing my opinion im not saying that your methods are right or wrong its just best to stay away from mirrors. mylar has been proven scientifically better for reflectivity.

sorry for the essay .

lol i also like em cus it makes my grow room look 4 times bigger. i wasnt trying to be a dick just alot of people say that they give hotspots and i havent seen any. i dident know about the absorbing thing. but i cant do nothing about it now without a whole shitload of effort.

no no dont get me wrong i can see why you would say your part.

it wont harm them and hot spots only happen usually if the mirror is scuffed or scratched.

your plants will grow quite happy with them, and its still better than nothing.

plus like you say it makes your grow room look better and bigger :)

happy growing mate :peace:
