I'm looking to grow using a aerogarden, but it seems complicated.

What do I use for Pods? they come with seeds already in them right?

What nutrients should I use?

How many plants to grow at once?

I'm sure there is more for me to know. Any information will help

the aerogarden is simple, 1st u need to scrape the seeds out of the foam then put your own seed in unless you want to germinate them 1st and add them afterward. go to the aerogarden section lots of info on growing with the aerogarden and no its not complicated. :leaf: Peace :leaf:

If you have an Aerogarden, I would grow no more than two plants at one time because the tank is only about a gallon and the roots will fill it up quickly during the vegetative period and then when you get to flowering, you've stunted potential bud growth. So keep the plants in the furthest pod bays from each other (on each side of the unit).

Use nothing but distilled or spring water and throughout the vegetative cycle, keep your settings on tomato. For the flowering period, I would use four 23w soft white cfls for each plant in addition to the hood lights. You will need to use a figure eight power cord for the hood lights so you can hook it up to a timer when you start your 12/12 cycle for flowering.

Always keep your tank full of water (to the very brim of the unit) and I would purchase a small backup power supply unit so if the power goes out for a short time, you can keep your Aerogarden pumps and lights running. If you have the Aerogarden in a small, tight area, do your best to keep the humidity down - have a powerful exhaust in your grow area.

Don't nute for the first 10 days, and then when you do, pop the two starter nute tabs that came with your kit in the water. Try to do this when the lights are turned off, and for God's sake, always make sure your pump is running. Speaking of pump, it's a good idea to get one 4 inch airstone with suction cups mounted to the bottom of the tank in the middle before you even start your growing. Use dark green air tubing running from the airstone out one of your unused pod holes to a 20 gallon pump. Try to make sure the pump sits higher than the Aerogarden as well. Block light from entering into the tank by covering empty pod holes with black electrical tape.

I recommend starting flowering when your plants have reached 4 inches, and I also recommend keeping a light breeze from a fan lightly running across the stems of the plants to make them strong and thick. When you are confident they are thick enough to handle a good, strong breeze, put the fan on a higher setting and more direct on the plants. This will also aid in controlling pests.

As far as using nute tabs that came with the aerogarden, I reommend using only the two starter tabs that came with it. When your plants reach 3 inches, use 1/5 the recommended feeding that fox farm or any other liquid fertilizer suggests. You will nute this way every 7 days until you are in your 3 week of flowering. I recommend using 1/2 of the recommended feeding from this point every 7 days (for the next 3 weeks) and then don't use any more nutes - in fact, flush your container gently and it's only distilled or spring water from this point.

Please take into account that topping the plants is recommended for growing in the AG (for any small grow for that matter). After your grow, make sure to use bleach and water to clean the resevoir. Clean the filter and pump as well (with vinegar and water - no bleach for these).

I know this is kind of a sordid mess, but I'm tired and high, so I apologize if not detailed enough.

Nute~
