you can just glue some pins and hang it from the roof like a hps system. If your plants are getting too tall, just bend them

Tissue999: It sounds like you bought the standard model with the two lamps hood and the short, 12 inch arm/light stand, right? That's what a lot of us started out with and it's great for cultivating miniature culinary kitchen herbs but I'm afraid it doesn't do much for growing M/J.

There is an upgrade kit available from Aerogarden for about $110, (US), that has a hood with three flat high intensity CFL's and a taller arm/light stand that extends up to 24 inches. Those are pretty much the limits of the system and the best for growing M/J. You can have fun growing small, (short), strains of M/J but the standard two lamps model doesn't offer much.

If you search through the posts here, and at a couple of other sites, you'll find that some people have butchered theirs to try to grow bigger M/J plants. They separate the hood and hang it from the ceiling, but you still have a tiny reservoir to contend with. It only holds 112, (US), ounces. I don't know how many mLs that is but it limits you to one or two small plants, possibly three, even with the upgrade kit.

You have to understand that the Aerogarden was designed to introduce the hobbyists to growing miniature culinary herbs in a compact, active hydroponics system. You can grow M/J with the standard model Aerogarden but it will be harder and slower because of the light factor, the small reservoir and the height limitations. I suggest you consider reflectors, an upgrade kit, and pick the shortest strains of M/J available to grow. If you do, it can be a lot of fun and you'll likely love it like we do. Please clarify what you've got to work with and keep us posted on your progress. We're all learning here.

If you're going to shell out the 100+ bucks on the hood id just get a 250 watt mh/hps system

Junk and Thacker420: There are a lot of great lights to choose from but then why grow with an Aerogarden? It's a complete system with cost effective lighting compared to the cost of sodium or metal halide.
