Yeah, I'll try to find a blue spectrum bulb to throw in there too. I've got some reflective stuff, but maybe not enough. I'm still worried about heigth, because I'm not comfortable hacking the light really... So I think I'm just gonna cut cut cut, and bend bend bend. What's the damage when you cut the big fan leaves? Is it enough just to have the tiny little bunchy leaves on a healthy stem? I'm trying that on one of the plants I had to pull.

Well if you trim the lower fan leaves.. the plant will utilize the extra energy to grow more in places you want I'm sure you'll see the results from the plant you trimmed.. I'de like to see a pic of it lol... Does it look like a little poodle?

Yeah man, I'll post a new pic. I didn't trim too much off the AG plants themselves. Because I wasn't sure if it was a bad thing or not. But I seem to be hearing from all corners that it's kind of good thing to trim up a bit. So maybe I'll do more tomorrow, and as I go.
I pulled the center plant, because I was surprised how full the tank was with roots already. The center plant just didn't have the bushiness or the energy of the others, so I pulled it. But I re-planted it in soil, and trimmed the leaves, so I'm just gonna watch and learn from it. Speaking of which, sorry I replied so late Ryan, but have you all seen this dude? This is freaking great stuff.

you don't have to hack the light, all you need is this extension from radio shack, it gives you an extra 6 foot of room for your hood without ANY cutting or splicing, it just plugs in to the light

i was talking about hacking the lgihts... the AG pro has a built in thing called supergrow which is 24 hours of light or 12/12

do you need to extend the light or is there a good way to keep the plants short ?

also do i have to use fox farm or can i get anything ?

you dont neccisarly have to use fox farms but it's the preferred nute.

Yeah, I gotta get my hands on one of those extension cords. I heard a Playstation 2 cable works for the light...? I've been keeping my plants low by bending them,and keeping the light as low as possible in general. Another good way to keep them low is to give them plenty of light. Someone told me that if they're not getting enough, they'll grow even if they're right on the AG light.

What I want to know is when can I tell if my plants are flowering? I tried the 12/12 strawberry hidden setting. I do think it's working (hard to monitor the light at 4 am tho... ) But I want to make sure all is well, what are the first signs of budding? How long does budding last? There are like little white-ish hairs, or fresh leaves at the tops of the plants, is that a sign? I wonder if I can determine sex in a few weeks?

Hey, so I got a good email explaining the lights for the AG, here it is:

Herbs/Basil - Lights on 17 hours - Pump on 17 hours
Salad Greens - Lights on 16.5 hours - Pump on 24 hours
Tomatoes/Peppers - Lights on 16 hours - Pump on 20 hours
Flowers - Lights on 15.5 hours - Pump on 20 hours
Strawberries - Lights on 16 hours - Pump on 16 hours

So I guess I may have to rig up a 12/12 timer after all

Awesome pics Alaska, I hope you'll stop by now and again to pass on your wisdom on these boards. I'm trying to monkey my way through my first grow. Trying to hack up my system real good to better attain a flower cycle.

so whats the best pump cycle(what setting). i have my light plugged into my own timer so what should i set the ag too? and i noticed that theres a switch on the pump itself labeled 1 to 4 i see that it is flow but whats the best flow for growin weed? thanks any help would be appreciated

Hmm, pump cycle? Well, Salad Greens is a 24 hr setting for the pump. That's what I have mine set for. As for the actual dial on the pump, I don't know what those mean.

so you want 24 hour pump cycle? the dial on the pump is the flow amount, meaning 1 is a low flow and 4 is very fast and more water. it comes at 2.5 so i put it back to that. i just am new to the aeroponic/hydro and didnt no if you should set the pump so it goes off a few hours a day or not.

I just ordered some White Widow and the Fox Farm Hydro kit........Already have the figure eight cord plugged in directly to the lights and it's hooked up to a timer, I have the pump seperate from the timer.......Just not sure how much of the Nutrients I'm supposed to use. I am well aware of the Fox Farm Chart but I just needed to know if any of you have experimented with the nutrients to see what the best measurements are...I'll post some pic's of my setup in a little while.... i have been reading these for a while and most everyone recomends to use half strength nutes for the 1st 2 weeks. I also have a question I am about to start my first aerogarden grow and i purchased the fox farm grow big nutes do i need any other nutes are is the "grow big" nutes enough?

Ahh nice, I have a feeling this is going to go really well.....And I bought the hydro kit for 40 bux....Grow Big, Tiger Bloom and another one....here is the link American Garden Supply ....Make sure it is for hydroponics and NOT soil!!!

Thanks XTC. One more question when you first germinate the seeds do you use all the nutes at the same time or just one specific one to start out?
