Aero Garden Help 2

Ok.... now that i'am on my 3rd grow and my 2nd aero garden i feel i can share a little knowledge on what i know. And will try to help or get help to those who need it. For one i've tryed germinating seeds in a jar and also the paper towel way. And found that the paper towel way is the way to go. The root develop alot bigger. When germinating seeds in a jar the root curls. So when you put that seed into the sponge the root may curl toward the light or out the sponge. This will kill your plants. When germinating seeds with the paper towel the root grows straight out and longer. So you can place the seed into the sponge with the root pointed down. You can also insert in tiny hole into the sponge to help the root fall into place. Now for nutrients. Be carefull when useing AG nuts. The first two pills are good to use the GREEN BAG. After that use only half the dose. One pill. Two at a time is too much. If you can buy some Hydroponic Nutrients. Be sure to change the water when adding those pills. I will be updated this thread from time to time as i learn more. Feel free to add your own experiences. I will try to answer any questions.

TIME SETTING: When growing pot i like to use the Herbs/Basil setting WHY? you got 17 hours of light and 7 hours of night.(Darkness) Give your plant roots a balance of water, nuts and air. Exactly what your plant needs. The strawberry setting is a 24 hour cycle of water. This will cause problems. Nute burns, droopy leaves and over watering.

USING HYDROPONIC NUTRIENTS: When using hydroponic nuts you don't have to keep changing the water. Just make a Nutrient mixture of a gallon of water and just add as you need to. A gallon of water is very easy to manage. Just follow the instructions

WATER TEMPERATURE: Water temp should not be a problem. The resvoir (Bowl of Water) if keep in a room should be at room temperature. If kept in a closet a fan will be good. The water is disclosed to light. The water will alway be at room temperature. If your room or house is 95 Degrees or higher every day then you got a big problem not just your plants. Try buying a AC.

ADJUSTING LIGHT HEIGHT: Keep the light as close as possible for a fast and healthy grow. More light More bud. Be carefull about monitoring the plants growth. Don't let the leaves touch the lights at all. This will burn your plants leaves. When you're at the last notch and can't raise it any higher. You will have to remove light from the aero garden. NO BIG DEAL.Be creative. There're many ways to go about this. You can also add lights to the side. You don't need to in veg stage. When flowering start you can use them. This is one way

WHEN FLOWERING STARTS: You will have to buy a lamp timer maybe $10 at radio shack and a figer eight electric cord. Disconnect cord going into light from AG Base. Now plug figer 8 cord into ag light. Now plug cord into Timer. Set timer to 12/12 and plug it in. Agin BIG DEAL this device is made for growing Herbs,Fruits and Vegetables. And with a little adjustments you can grow pot.

I just ordered an AG yesterday and should recieve it no later than Friday. I've already germinated 2 seeds (some bagseed), but since I'm waiting on my AG, I've planted them in two 12 oz cups and got em under some lights. Anyway, this is my first grow ever (soil, or any other medium) and was wondering if you (or anyone else with decent knowledge on AG) have the time you could "hold my hand" through the process. I would really appriciate it! I think i'll need the most help with the nutes, lol.

Aeroponic3,
It's time to top off your plants dude. You're gonna run out of space and it seems like you have sufficient side lighting to accomplish this. Just my opinion.

I have an AG and started 20 days ago. From bagseed, 2 of 3 have made it and now I need to know what to do next. I think I am going to let it grow like it is until it reaches about 10" and then begin flower. Now they're 2"+. I would like to know how and when I should see the sex of the plant. Any advice?

Cool, thanks. And the way to see if it is female is the little hairy nodes at the base of each branch, right?

I've got 7 pods going. 3 buds already sprouted. I know I'll need to thin them out but I'm hoping to get three females. I have a 400w mh/hps conversion on the way. Question: exactly how do you go about topping a plant? do you just snip the top with scissors and thats it? also, how tall do I let them get before I start topping them?

Thanks to all the AG growers who take the time to post advice and experience. I'm a first time grower and have found this site tremendously helpful. I'll post up pics soon.

Hey Aero, did you order the White Widow online? if so where did you have it shipped. Should I be worried about having seeds mailed to my house?
