hey this is for all you guys that have aero gardens....

I dont see why you all dont set up screens and train those plants.... its the only way to go in a platform thats that small with the given light.... i have seen some shitty pics of plants under those aero gardens that have grownn wayy too tall and isnt doing anything but taking up space....

and secondly,,, it would be best to use clones no seeds... you dont know whos female or male....

set up a screen at 7 inchs from the base and as the plants grow up , lightly weave the plants into the screen..i dont see how one couldnt pull an easy 1 to 2 ozs or more from this unit..i will be setting up a diary soon to show everyone as i have some extra clones that are not being used...good luck everyone...

I was thinking about doing this method... scrogging correct? What type of screen would be good to use with the AG? Any ideas? Also does anyone know a good guestimation of how long it would take to harvest big bud doing this method? how much bud could i expect to yield?

Well most of the people using these techniques with the aerogarden are too lazy to post about it in this forum. Training works well if height is an issue, scrog is great if you know they are female, but even with feminized seeds there is only like 80% of a chance. People are attracted to the ag because it's marketed well, newbies think it is great for every plant. The ag is more of a learning experience than anything, so to answer your question : You may see some experienced grower practicing scrog, but for a newbie looking for an easy grow it's sort of out of the question. Hope this helped!

ha i bet you i can pull close to 2 zips out of an aero garden..it wouldnt bee that hard....shit you wouldnt even have to use a screen...screens are only for if you have limmited plants for the given area... just get clones and plant them in the AG then when they reach 7 to 10 inchs set it to flower...you will have 18 inch budcicles.... and 7 of them....:hump:

the scrogg method seems a bit complicated, i use the aeroponic system and luckily all of my plants turned out to be female and i am easily producing a nice 6-8 ounces every 45 days i am happy

i trained that thing! ive fit 5 females almost all the way to maturity and never had to pull the light off of its base

is it possible i woke up you scroggers with my recent post?

im trying to do the same thing and it is nice to see some info out there as it has already been done.

good to see the success, and the actual use of the Ag and limited space as its promoted.

This is a pretty sweet thread...I definitley would love to see a sog or scrog with the AG...

I also think that 7 clones in the ag would be an awesome idea....

I wish someone would try all of these methods...

Peace

aero sog coming up :)

this has actually been my long term goal and now that ive had experience with grows im going to make the investment and do 4x 5gal buckets

only thing i am not 100% on is bubble or TAG mist.. TAG seems definately worth it but i already have a lot to get working first

i certainly feel your sentiment on this subject.

if you have not yet tried this i would DEFINELTY recommend starting.

i am a newb and have yet to even harvest anything smokable. i have started to LST my plants and they are responding nicely.

i am developing more bud sites along the stem and they are turning and continuing to grow up. i will post pics in a few days as it has only been 3 days since i tied them down.

this is working wonderfully for me i think.

hi, i'm in internet moron so I have no idea if i'm posting this in the right place, no idea of the language, what a "thread" is, I mean this is overwhelming, but I'd like to say I have two AG's (I figured out what that means at least!) with the delux upgrade lamp kit, meaning 24" growing platform and 3 times stronger bulbs, my local hydro store starts all their plants in the AG, so it's no joke, they sell the "master gardener kit" which
contains a detailed manual with all settings described, bought stronger food
and a PH tester, PH down, muy importante, and now after exactly 4 weeks
planting I have beautiful healthy plants up to 13", the guys at hydro store tell me I will need to thin out to 3 plants per machine, spread out, start pinching to create a bonsai type bush, and I should have what they call "fruit" with no problem. Now my problem, or I should say questions, when can you start telling gender?! what's a clone?! how do you pinch?! I've never grown ever, I understand sepaeration is to get females, avoid seeds,
what happens if you don't? with only 3 plants per machine ofcourse I'd prefer all females, can you force them to start flowering? my manual says
the setting for shortest light is strawberries, 15hrs on, 9 off, and you can't really work around the timer, you can turn off manually but they'll pop back on automatically at the next interval, so perhaps you could, it'd be tricky.
okay well I'll now try and figure out how to post a cell pic of my tiny farm.
thanks, Liz or okeyd as I'm listed here. wish I knew what a trackback is.
I think I attached a pic! any help or sugesstions greatly appreciated.

from reading your post you have obviously done some of your homework by reading the stuff round here.

keep going. i know the search engine here is a little lame/strange but search for cloning and check out the newbie section or general marijuana section on first page. and some more reading should help answer most of your questions.

anyhow real quick, chop the cord on light and run it to a seperate timer.

wait till you have 7 nodes-ish and preflowers then switch to 12/12 for flowering and sexing.

little balls are males two hairs are females. both is hermaphrodite.
very easy to tell with AG within 2 weeks.

not sure i would be discussing with anyone(although i told my dealer) especially the hydro store guy.:spew:

uh couple more things.

1.) lower the lights closer. your short ones are gonna try and stretch to the light while your big ones will develope fullness. the fan leaves are gonna shade your others.

2.) your can carefully bend the big one over and tie off to the height of your others and lower the light. (my latest kick. got more pics coming.)

3.) lower the light

4.) when flowering on 12/12 you will want complete darkness to prevent stressing the plants and making them males or hermies.

5.) don't be afraid to prune side leaves on the lower stem or topping to promote side growth. you could top the big ones down to the same height but they WILL bush out to the side.

6.) comeback often and read. i have been a member since dec 07 and all of the info i have just given you i have read here.

you'll find you have to do something with your time as you wait for your grow. why not brush up on basics, check out what others are doing/suggesting and learn about advanced techniques for the future.

thanks mass, i'm embarrassed to say I posted that before I even really looked at this site, was overwhelmed by it all, everything I've learned so far is from my boys at the hydro store, as long as we're discreet they love seeing what happens and helping me, for instance the Botanicare nutes they sell, pure blend + cal-mag, instead of the AG nutes, turned my plants stronger, much darker green, and uncurled leaves within a matter of a day, these guys sell all the AG accessories as well, they're really into growing anything and everything hydro style, we have a good relationship plus I guess I just don't give a shit who I talk to, big city living I guess, I have friends who actually grow in their front yards, little bushes they train and pinch and sculpt from the start, have beautiful fat little bushes covered with buds under 24", the public doesn't notice cause they're so squat, they live in wealthy neighborhoods as well, which helps, but so I know it must able to be done in this machine, after posting I spent hours on this site, learned so much, wow, it made me scrap all my plants, gonna start fresh with custom seeds or clones, start training much earlier on, already have an extension cord for the lamp hood, my one remaining question was do you need aux. lighting and you say yes so I'll get some clamps. That's one thing no one has seemed to do, grow anything without aux. lighting. So thanks for your tips, I will be back often for learning a lot more, gotta take a break from this site cause the agro guys turn my stomach a little, first wondered what "no haters" meant, now I know and what a fucking waste of hate! the biggest haters of the AG seem to be the people who know the least about it, strong opinions based on ignorance, lovely. I'll post again once I get new seeds or clones up and running, meantime, reading here and gleaning more info. THANKS again!

JWell you definitely woke up this scroger. I just need to find a fleamale plant and learn to clone. Thats all thats holding me back other the hot weather. Good bud do not like it at room temps of 100 from whut I can gather.

no they dont. in a few weeks i expect to have similiar issue with heat due to growing in the attic.

my solution is to run a 2 inch pvc pipe from the attic to the basement inside the wall. using a 2 inch pvc UNION, i can then fit a 3 inch - 4 inch aluminum duct adapter and connect to my 4 inch inline air intake.

thats sounds complicated. basically i am hiding a pipe in the wall and jerry rigging it into my fresh air intake. the basement air is always 60 degrees.

thats too bad. you should have kept the plants.

my grow area is 36 wide by 24 inches deep and 39 inches high.
i have attached a picture of my mini SOG idea.

i have 3 mothers flowering which leaves 4 open spots in the AG to start clones. once they root i take out the pod and place into my 28qt flowering container. put a new pod into the AG and start another clone.

basically is a storage container with cover from walmart. i have extra lights and AG pods as well as another small area to move the AG into.

i place my newly designed container into original area.

ill get some pic this weekend. plan on getting this running when i get clone powder on friday.

thanks for the info, too bad my computer can't enlarge the thumbnail pic, but my goal is to grow 3 females to completion in the AG without separating the lamp hood from base, so keeping a 24" growing height with a little aux. lighting coming in from the sides with clamps, the hood extension cord allowing me to plug it into a separate timer when I need to 12/12 force flower, as the AG doesn't have that setting, thanks for the total darkness tip, next time i'll throw something over the machine. I have such limited space, tiny house, if it can't be done all in the AG I'm not interested, but it can! Seen it done here on this site, many folk growing beautiful little plants from start to finish in the AG without suspending the hood or moving them out. I think from reading here and the hydro guys agree, crucial is PH obviously, but also change the water+nutes once a week, separate the roots, clean the little sponge covering the pump WELL, get out all drifter roots, I scraped the plants cause they were already a foot tall with no flowers, it was too late, and too much work for leggy plants, I sold one of my AG's to a friend, now I'll start over with one machine and I'm learning right now about the best hermi seeds to start with, even 2 females out of 7 would be good enough for me, man people on this site have gorgeous little buds starting after 3 1/2 weeks veg, I learned a lot, and it's fun, if I had your space I would probably get more involved, but I don't, no room here, my growing space is a corner of my tiny office room, don't have an attic or basement or spare closet, that's what attracted me to the AG to begin with, and I'm determined to make it work! and I've seen it done here. so we'll see. I like a challenge!
