Advise for Medical Use in Ontario

Hi All, I've recently started looking into medical marijuana and how it can benefit me. I've heard some stories on the radio and done a lot of reading on this site and others. I originally thought it could just help with pain and for nausea with cancer, HIV, or terminal illness. Only recently did I realize there was a lot more to it. Here's my story, sorry if it is a bit long. Thanks for anyone who has input.

HISTORY:
I did smoke a few times when I was a kid. I never had very much and it didn't seem like something I *had* to have, so I just stuck to alcohol and caffeine for the past 20+ years. I have always thought marijuana should be legal--I've know several people who have really messed up their lives on alcohol, but nobody who has had serious problems from MJ.

I drink alcohol. Usually 1 or 2 drinks, or occasionally 3 or more. I don't really like feeling too impaired. My coffee consumption has probably come closer to being a problem than alcohol ever has. All in all, I don't think I'm very likely to be addicted to drugs of any kind. (I've never tried any so called "hard drugs".)

MY SITUATION:
I've always had problems focusing on tasks. Even as a kid I would forget what I was looking for when I went into another room. I just accepted that is the way I am. For the past 12 years, I have run my own IT business and been reasonably successful. Keeping focused is usually a problem, but sometimes I have an amazing laser-sharp focus on a task. Those times make it all worthwhile.

Lately I have extra stress and anxiety. Not being able to focus at times increases stress. Either the stress or the lack of focus on their own are manageable, but now they are compounding each other. I have heard lately about adults being prescribed ritalin, but when I look into the side-effects and it seems like a real horror-show. I see MMJ as a potential natural solution.

I've have started preparing to grow my own, to try out this idea, but I could use some advice.

MY QUESTIONS:
1) Do you think MMJ will help my situation?

2) What dose and frequency? I was thinking of taking it at night, so I wouldn't feel impaired when trying to work, but would hopefully feel beneficial effects the next day.

3) Strains? I was planning on Kush, since I have read some good things, but there are so many choices.

4) Legality... I'm in Canada, so I could potentially become legal, but I see my situation as less serious than those who would normally be approved. Would I stand a chance? Supply of MMJ should not be a problem, it would just be nice to avoid any legal problem.

If you made it this far, thanks for reading. Any advise is appreciated.:peace:

it will be hard in canada. a lot of doctors are not willing to sign the papers. and the canadian government most importantly will want to know that traditional methods of treatment have been tried and failed. so in order to have a valid case...basically they want to see evidence that you have tried traditional methods and it has not been effective. like in my case for my mm card application...i have problems with my mental health...and i have tried several different medications and i dont have much success with pharmaceuticals. the canadian government wants medical mj to be used as a last resort treatment, not the 1st option. its more strict here than in the us.

I started off with the idea of growing so that I would know my source. Since then, I have found out where to get something that I trust.

Short story is: It's not like I remember. I guess I had some pretty bad stuff (early 80's)... I would not feel anything from a few tokes. One time back then, I had some better stuff and felt it after a tokes. This time, I took one strong hit and that really did it for me. Today's stuff is much stronger. Good thing... for medical purposes I don't want to smoke too much of anything to get my medicine...

I'll post more later. I hope that it will be a help to others.

I have ADD and i ave the same issues as you. I smoke a little before school to help me focus. When you just get a tiny buzz goin, you dont feel quite stoned but you enhance your bains thinking power and become more creative. It helps me get interested in the subjects or tasks i will be doing.

I would recomend a hybrid or something more cerebral like a sativa dominant. Indica will make you too relaxed.:joint:
