advice with carbon filter + rep

ok so iv got 2 seperate flowering rooms there both only 1.4mx1.2m and 7ft tall but i only have 1 10" carbon filter
my question is if i run ducting from both rooms up into my loft with an extraction fan for each room then i get a y peice of ducting and attach the 2 fans to one side and my 10" filter into the other will this wor as it will be pushing out air through the filter not drawing it in and also it will have 2 fans but there both 5" fans so that should be the same as a single 10" fan which is wots recomended for the filter

for those of you interested it does work but its not as effective as having the filter in the room and drawing air in through the filter

ultimate buds you think its more effective to have the air pulled in through the filter, rather than on the outside of the exhaust/box?

i agree with xbox...the air flow is better with the carbon filter on the outflow end. If you want to pull clean air in and still use a filter best bet is to use a pleated natural air filter...home depot would carry it

yes i think it works better to suck air in through the filter to clean it rather than to blowit out threw the filter,
the set up im talking about has nothing to do with bringin in clean air its only for expelling smelly hot air,
for removeing the smell of mj iv found its best to have the carbon filter in the room with the plants and to suck air in through the filter into the fan and ducting then to dump it into the loft space
where as before i had the open end of the ducting in the room with the plants sucking air in and upto the fan in the loft where it then pushd the dirty air out through the carbon filter
its due to the fact that theres a larger area on the outside of the filter to clear air being drawn in rather than the small area inside being used to clean air being pushd out

This is all going to depend on how many CFM each fan displaces, how long your ducting is, how many turns you have in the ducting and how many CFM your filter can handle.

i dont agree !!!
the only change in the set up is whether you have the filter at the start of the ducting or the end, the fan direction does not change either way the only difference is that either the filter is at the start (in the room) and sucking air onto the large outer surface of the filter
or its at the finish blowing dirty air througth the ductin and pushing it out through the inside of the carbon filter which means it has a smaller are to clean it
also if you check the advice from carbon filter sales companys thay adfvise suckin in which is wot iv found most effective thats why theres a material filter on the outside of the carbon filter to aid cleaning the air being drawn in

I was referring to the ability of two 5" fans to be equal to one 10" fan.

You already answered your own question about the carbon filter.
