I am looking into buying a vaporizer and I have never used one. Can anyone recommend one? Has anyone tried the cheap vapes they sell on ebay for like 30-40 bucks? All help and advice is appreciated and + rep for all advice. Thanks

And if I am posting in the wrong forum give me a heads up and I will go to the right one. Thanks

i wouldn't buy a cheap one, i say you get what you pay for. I hear volcano's are really good but i've never had one, only vaporizer i've ever bought is a vapor daddy and it wasn't the greatest sometimes got too hot and lit the weed on fire.

Thanks + rep. Anyone else want to chime in? There has got to be a vapor guru out here somewhere. Thanks

As the person you said, you get what you pay for...

I would check out the Herbalaire, Silver Surfer, Extreme Vaporizer, and Da Buddha...
If you have a ton of money to spend... nothing beats a Volcano. However, you will be tossing $500+ for one.

Also, if FDD sees this... I remember him saying he found a heating gun that latches up perfectly with the volcano bag kit, and works just as well... that was a pretty old post though, so I dunno if you'd be able to find it.

I am down to 2 choices. The major differences are price and size. The magic flight launch box (link) may be the one I go for. It is small and portable and under $100. My other choice is Da Buddha (link). It is larger and plugs into 110 and not very portable and costs about $180, almost double the launch box. Any opinions? Please chime in.

box vapes are not the epitome of the vaporizing experience in my opinion. the herbalaire is legit, I wouldn't recommend whip vapes unless yuo have some sort of reason you'd prefer it . . .

you just need a good vape that will fill up a bag at a consistent temp like a herbalaire or a volcano.

I prefer the whip types, I just think they are easier to use, clean, etc. Not very complicated devices.
I use my Buddha every day, love it.

Your least expensive alternative, and one of the best, is the Launch Box from below. They're developing a plug in a/c adapter for home.

I find the angle of The Silver Surfer enough of an improvement to rate it above Da Buddha, which is otherwise very similar and a good vaporizer. The angle makes loading and vaping easier.

The deciding factors between the two - money; where you're gong to use it (if you want portable - LB); ease of use (I found the Launch Box much much easier to get to work); taste - Silver Surfer kills on this one, a touch of tang to the LB; effective delivery (gets you high) - both good - my 3 buddies took one hit each from my LB with JillyBean, it baked them for 2 hours. Silver Surfer/Bhudda will do the same. Both great choices.

.

these would be my pics in each category. The pick will also depend on the type of hit you want, take a look and to see if there are any you want to talk about.

The Volcano is fantastic, probably the thing that people notice least is how resilient the machine is, how easy it is to clean. If you've got the money this is a great machine. My favorite among the bag/reservoir type.

.

If you want an inexpensive bag type I'd go with the HerbalAire, it's reviewed better than the Extreme.

.

The other types I have/like are:

Silver Surfer - whip, direct draw. Simple, people love it. I gave mine to a friend, I never used it because of the Volcano. My friend loves it, says he's higher than ever before and uses half the bud of smoking.

Launch Box - Magic Flight: IMO the best portable on the market. I have an I-inhale (Iolite) that is useless. At ~$90 USD plus a 15 minute battery charger this is 1/3 the price of other portables and could be used as a full time home vaporizer. If you're short on cash this is where I'd start. I can get higher using the LB than with my Volcano, thicker hits. Takes a little more time and a bit of practice but thicker hits. Has a trench instead of a bowl, permanent screen. Conduction between the screen and the powdered bud allows for 3-5 second warm ups and good tasting hits. Uses one AA battery, lasts me for a trench over an hour and a half walk. The warranty: lifetime replacement if the LB is broken for any reason, including operator misuse. The warranty makes sense when you figure out how the box works.

Purple Days is a direct draw vaporizer that gives 2-3 good draws per bowl and 40 bowls per gram. I did a test and got only 23 bowls from a gram but anywhere from 6-20 hits per bowl. Amazing flavorful hits. It stays on all day long, or use a timer - takes 1/2 hour to warm up, and uses about the same electricity as a night light. You can get a battery pack and use it as a portable. Only $180. The catch, theres a 9+ week waiting period. Mine took 14 weeks from order to arrival. If you live in the US you can get the Myrtlezap, the vaporizer that the Purple Days was designed from. Very similar but Purple Days has a cooler name and claims improvements over the Myrtlezap. The Myrtlezap has brass in the air flow

Another type is the flame heat source on the heating block, Supreme is the best portable in this class. I bought a cheap plastic housed VP600 that bubbled the first try so I scavenged the ceramic heating tube and made my own Plug n Play vaprorizer with a jet torch, the ceramic tube, a metal light switch box for housing, and the bowl set from the VP. Worked better than the vapoir gene. The Supreme will give you Volcano size hits in the same time, but the unit takes time to warm up.

AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!! They cut the guys hand off! Holy shit they're crazy! OH NO! What if they're involved with the Peat Moss Industry!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Everyone buy a Supreme just in case!

sneaks off to buy more Supreme stock

.

I've made a Volcano from an old metal Vapor Gene, a heat gun, silicone tubing and a Volcano Bag. Like the Vriptec. Which was also the name of an onion belt back in the day, or as we called it the "What is that fucking stupid thing you have on?"

+rep to all except Hobbes. heh I read your post on someone elses thread the other day and gave you rep. They won't let me give it to you again. heh

I think I may go for the launch box. This will be my first vape and in the end if I prefer fire I would rather be out $100 than $200. heh For years my main smoking method has been a Dugout and the Launch Box is similar and portable. If I really like vaporizing I will invest the money and get a nice one for the house.

i just bought the extreme. it works great but be careful not to break the glass heating element. i did, it still works but have been waiting almost a month for the replacement piece. the guys have stayed in email contact with me but the parts are MIA. i guess that's the breaks when you ship from canada.
i found a coupon code and saved $50. troyboy was the code i think, you can google it.

hmm, I wasn't expecting to read positive reviews when i saw the title about vapes, personally i'd rather spend the $300 plus dollars on buds and just use a $2 pipe, lol. I've used a "hot box" as pictured
what a waste...like breathing air but not getting high. It was a friends that he used often and let me try it, i didnt get high off the vape but he saved all the buds that he ran through the vaporizer and gave them to me...i got high as hell off that stuff so obviously the thc was not getting heated off by the vaporizer. I'd avoid them all and stick with what I know....good old fashion BONG :)

I recommend this to anyone thinking they can review all vapes when they have only tried or owned a whip vape . . . .

bag vapes and whip vapes are dramatically different. first time vape users should obviously try bag vapes first because they're much better over all.

I'm not going to go into the details of why vaporizing obviously gives off way more thc than smoking (anyone who has taken a chemistry class and understands combustion would realize that hitting the vaporization point using convection is much more efficient than using a flame to roughly char the entire plant matter.)

Yeah I just bought a box vape similar to the one above for like $40 on ebay cause I just got $50 in a card from my grandma :P so i figured might as well buy one so I can smoke inside and relax. I've never tried the bag vapes though. But they do look a lot better than whips, however the whips are just easy.. so idk. hopefully my box vape wont disappoint when I get it. Here it is by the way.

I just got a Volcano yesterday, and have to say the investment is worth every penny. Its easy to setup, the digital version I got also only varies +/- 2.7 degrees..or so the instructions read. To be honest, I have no idea, I'm so friggin bombed by this thing, I'll believe whatever I read from that box. I hear though if you can't get a volcano due to budgetary reason, the Vapair is a pretty good machine

Just got my first vape less than an hour ago when the wife checked the mailbox. I had never used a vape other than one of those box ones and it tasted like crap, but I was hoping for the best with this one lol. Anywho, I got the Magic-Flight Launch Box and I am amazed by the size of the thing, the batteries come pre-charged, and there is no smell. I could seriously take this little monster to work in my pocket and toke up standing right behind my boss and she wouldn't know.

I'm blown away!
