Advice on new veg area ventilation

My current area is working pretty well but I’m figuring there’s enough space to convert part of it into a small veg area.. I don’t want to have Moms any more and I’m looking at running fewer larger plants in the future. I want to take cuts from my vegging plants just before I flip to 12/12 and veg them out in the new area thereby saving some time. I’m happy with my two 630 CMH lights for flower and I feel they are sufficient for the space..

My main question is regarding ventilation but other advice is more than welcome.. I have 4x 6” passive intakes and a 6” inline fan currently. If I have a 6” fan and filter in the bloom room will I need a filter on the fan in the veg room too which is where the exhaust is situated? I’m guessing it’s safer that way? Also is my thinking correct with the overall ventilation setup and routing? My current temps are nicely in line with the single 6” exhaust fan at the moment but it is winter here. I’m running both lights bare bulb at the moment, one of them has an air cooled hood so I could put the glass back on that one and vent it in the warmer months. If necessary I can dim my 630 DE down a bit too. I can’t run a/c as my energy charge will be too high.

Please take a look at my pics and advise me if I’m thinking along the right lines.. I’d like to get geared up for this for my next run in the next month or so. Any guidance and advice would be much appreciated..:blsmoke:

Well its not impossible. But your starting ambient temp in veg is going to be whatever your flower room extraction is.
If your coming out at 77 degrees in flower then your going to get a rise in temp in veg area from that. Plus you don't know how depleted your co2 levels are after your air has passed through your flower room. I suspect it wouldn't be too depleted though.

What about having the extraction point (where it leaves the house) with a Y duct so you have both extractors going into the one point and then not having your flower venting the hot air into the veg. You would need a passive intake in the veg area and a light trap to prevent light leak.

As far as do you need a filter in veg. Do you want smell getting out? Even if its a much lesser smell its still a distinctive one.

Sounds feasible. Like you say it wouldn't be much warmer than flower room, maybe a few degrees with only 315w.

with a 6 inch fan u need to have a total of 12x12 inches of passive venting ( passive venting the size of the fan tells u how much open area needs it is 2 times the size of the fan )

but by using passive venting u are allowing outside factors into the grow room ( PM bugs other spores) and if u get PM in there it ...it is not fun it a fight untill harvest and u still lose some from areas u could not see or spray

the other thing is i need the Height of your area to figure out cubic feet a 6 inch fan is around 380 400 cubic feet a min .....u could be on the high end (might need a little stronger fan)

I’ll measure up the height this evening when the light cycle starts, thanks man.. I figured I should maybe go for a 8” fan..? I have screens on my intakes to minimise bugs etc and it seems to have been working so far for the last year or so.. I’ve never had a PM issue but have had minor bugs from time to time like I guess most people have..? Thanks so much for input..8)

I also have two 4000k Quantam boards that also use for veg sometimes.. they run super cool. It seems I have sufficient intakes though so I could definitely utilise one for the veg area..

If the space is lessened by almost a third then surely the 6” fan will still be sufficient if my ventilation is working ok at this point in the current area..?

I’m not super fussed about the temps getting too high in the veg room.. Especially if I use the QB’s in that area.. At this point I’m actually looking to increase heat for my veg tent. That will obviously fluctuate from season to season though..
Thoughts on this..?

The height slopes upwards from the flower room door, starting at 7’3” and rising to 8’9” at the far back wall, the one where the three intakes are in a row..
i roughted it make it 8 feet
6.2 x13.8x8 is 739............your doing about 360 380 with the filter one so that is whole area in 2 mins u are good

glad u are not in a PM area it sucks to see all that work shot

honstly if u have the money i would go a sealed room

buy a mini split system that does heating and cooling (i get the one with 2 head units and one compressor) and u would need a Co2 burner or tank system

put a head unit in each part of the grow area so u can controll it alone ( plus 2 units makes the work much quicker less wear less power over all) .

Yeah I would seriously love to do that but unfortunately a/c is just not an option for me at this point.. I know it would be the best route but my hands really are tied..

might beable to do it same way i pulled ours off

paypal credit has this thing where u get 6 months to pay off a item before intrest is chargedon it so like buying something with out sales tax

well we got a 24000 btu system for 1100 put on pay pal and paied 75 bucks for the first 3 months and when the 4th month came we were able to use the profits off the plants to wipe it out before they started to make money off us

from the size of your op i am assuming u have a outlet for your extra smoke
