Advice needed

Hi guys, ive just recently joined the site and i think its great that fellow smokers have a bit of continuity here and that there isntany predjudice here at all, so im over the moon.

Firstly, i would just like to say that im embarking on my first growing expedition indoors,

i have two 400watt HPS lights to start with.

I have a fairly big grow-space too.

What i really need to know is, what strands do you think would be ideal for a beginner, which isnt too hard to grow. Also what conditions would be ideal for my plants and which set-up would you recommend?!

Also is smell a problem or is there ways around that? What kind of yield would i expect on my first time.

Guys, i know there is a lot of questions there, but my philosophy is, if u dont ask u dont get.:weed:

So guys ANY help at all would be appreciated and i thank you for any replies. I know the basics so i do but i would like to hear from people like myself and some experienced growers too, just to get a bit of good feedback.

Thank you for reading:joint:

Northern Lights would cover what your looking for. good smoke, good yields etc. Lowest smelling plant available on the market while growing also it is very hardy for begginners. Its mould resistant etc. so great for begginers so hope this helps :)

First off welcome to RIU, always nice to see another fellow smoker with a vision of success and growing. I can give you some advice, but I would def wait for more post as there are definitely a lot more growers on this site that know a lot more than I do. To me it sounds 2 400watt HPS should be plenty of light for your first grow, and having a bigger space is always a plus so thats cool. As far as what strains you should go with, I'm not to sure, me personally would try the best not being too concerned of the outcome, but I started my first grow from a seed from a stress sack haah, actually came out pretty good believe it or not, eventually I got my medical card and now I just go pick up clones from different dispensaries, you might not have that luxury, but if you do thats obviously the way to go, if not there's some good sites to order good seeds from. I would recommend a Aero/NFT system or Hydro, thats the way to go, but if you don't think your ready for that than just start soil. You should read this thread, along with some others you could gain a lot of knowledge. https://www.rollitup.org/hydroponics-aeroponics/116859-harvest-pound-every-three-weeks.html. I wouldn't be too concerned about your yield right now, just focus on getting everything you need togather, do some more reading ask more questions, and you will have a great yield. Hope that helped a bit Peace.

thanks very much man, thats a big help. i was actually looking at that strand myself and that was good reassurance there so thanks dude. :)

yea welcome buddy....congrats on your decision to grow your own smoke....nothing more satifying...i would also say N.L. is a very good choice to start with....durable and very forgiving.....smell will most likely become a problem...i remember seeing a thread back in the day....dont quit remember if it was here or elsewhere....but it was a 5 gallon bucket that consisted of water crystals and an ONA with a fan on top....it was quit interesting and worked pretty good from what i have heard....ill try and find it for you friend....

hey guys...whats goin on!? I haven't been on here in a couple of weeks and this thread caught my eye. There's def gonna be a lot of opinions on here...just take em' for what its worth and roll with it baby!!

Here's my thought...take the two 400 watt'rs and create a perpetual harvest like I have going...Two seperate spaces----1 for veg and 1 for flower...both lights are good enough to grow 4-6 plants easily.

As far as strains are concerned, go with the almighty northern lights as forementioned. Also, White Widow is an excellent beginners strain...very easy to grow and forgiving...plus you get killer smoke when its done! I've grown a few different strains in the past with great sucess...Swiss Cheese, Big Bud, Automatic Himalaya Blue Diesel, Haze, and now I'm working with some King's Kush and White Widow..the sprouts are just a couple days old now.

Just be educated and informed and ask questions...good luck!

yup...i still have like 3 more of those beans as well as 10 poison dwarf beans that i havent even attempted because of my past auto experience. The only way i would attempt another auto grow is with the original lowryder or lowryder #2

I've seen good results from these beans.

Hey man thank you for replying to my thread. And thanks for the strain tips. Can i just ask you another bit of advice though;?;

What is the best measures to take to set up both rooms, my space is pretty big and i only really have the one place to put it. So are you talking about dividing the space in to 2 seperate sections? veg & flower?

What would be the ideal set-up,.....light position, reflective material, soil, light output, smell control, air circulation and heat measures??

Again im sorry about so many questions but i just want to get a good basis on starting and want to make a good go at it.

Again thanks :D

Well as for strains, I can recomend Violator Kush by Barney Seeds as one of the best herbs I've ever smoked. As for your setup a 400w HPS is off to a good start, but you need to take into account temp, air circulation and ventalation ( or C02), Humity, Soil, pH and more. It is hard for me to answer your question to the fullest because id be hear all day. Look a little into setups on websites and youtube, you will get an idea of what you need. I noticed u mentioned smell and yes it is serious, the smell is quite intense when growing any marijuana. You can avoid having the smell escaping your grow room by exhausting all the air from your room with an exhaust fan through a carbon filter. The carbon in the carbon filter will clean the ordour from your air, unfortunatley this is not cheap and will probably run you 4-$600.00 for a real good exhaust fan and carbon filter.
