Advice needed for Best layout of plants.

Hello! I am very new to all this, this will be my first time growing.. I have a cabinet that I constructed measuring

depth 2ft
length 5ft
height 6ft

I have 2 p300 platinum LED lights, ventilation, climate control ect.. all figured out, however I cant figure out if I should go with one large Tote (filled with 10 or so plants), 2 smaller toes (filled with 5 or so plants each), or 5 gallon buckets (?? number per bucket)

I want to know what you guys would do if this was your space to maximize yields.. I will NOT be doing perpetual grows (to minimize trouble), nor will I be keeping a mother plant 24/7. (same reason) All my plants will be coming from seeds (feminized).

A few points I need help with.
1. many smaller plants or fewer larger ones?
2. if I do many smaller plants or SOG can I just plant one seed, then make clones out of the whole plant? (to save money on seeds)

Anyway, let me know your thoughts!! Thanks in advance for the input!!

EDIT: this will be a hydro DWC system too if that helps

I would scrog three plants in 7 gal fabrics with saucers.
Have you read through the platinum led thread here at RIU?

I use a similar space approx 4x2x6. My best yields have come by way of lst, supercropping, with a scrog.

Best of luck bro.

Thanks for the advice! I will be going hydro on this one.. That being said, do you still think 3 plants scrog would be the way to go? in 3x 5 gall DWC buckets?

P.S. I did read something here on the platinum LEDs not being the best, but that was after I already got them.. I hear they are not the greatest in the world but they were cheaper and hopefully they get the job done.

Sorry bro I 've zero hydro experiences. You can get some good flowers out of the Pleds just manage your canopy carefully.

If you want to save $$ by using clones practice taking cuttings from your best growing plants. If you're successful you can use them next round.

No worries! thanks for the input!!

So after thinking about it I think doing Scrog would be best for now, but I dont know how many plants or buckets or gall/plant I would need for this space. any experienced users want to chime in with more opinions? thanks!

You can do 2-3 nice big DWC plants or you could do 7 smaller plants and cut about 3 weeks off your total grow time. Either way you will get a similar crop.

Great! Thank you for the input.. I am less concerned about time. This grow is only for me as I need it for medicinal purposes (nerve damage). So I care about yields and the cost of seeds. I will just stash what I grow until its almost gone and then grow again. I may try to cram a fourth plant.. Given that there will be fewer but larger plants. how many gallons of H20 per plant would they need to be sure the rootball has room to sustain a larger indoor plant?

A 5 gallon bucket will grow an enormous plant, but will need to be topped off daily since the plant can drink 1-2 gallons a day once large. A larger rez makes it more convenient and reduces changes of shock since you can forget to top off for a couple of days without the level dropping way too low.

You know you can grow them all from 1 seed right? Grow 7 different seeds, then pick your favorites and start round 2 with 7 clones from 2+ strains/moms. No need to actually keep a mom, just keep a popcorn bud stick as a clone and reveg it...

After your advice, I think I will now use two totes, each 15 gallons or so.. (since I already have 2 auto topoffs and bubblers.) I also already have 3.5 inch netpots and drill bit. Do you think that size of netpot too small for such a large plant? or will it be ok since the roots just go into the water anyway? If they are too small what size net pots would you recommend?

Also in reply to the second part of your post:
I only plan on doing one round at a time, then not using my cabinet until I start to run out, (an oz can last me almost a month) So I figure I will just plant 4 seeds and grow them to maturity and harvest. then stop for a while. Is this the best way to go about it? or should I plant a few seeds, pick one and wait till i can pull 4 clones off it so they are the same genetics?? Sorry if thats a noob question, I am still educating myself on the process :)
