Advanced Nutrients Help

So, I was thinking of trying the Advanced nutrient line after my foxfarm reserves run out.

There is just one thing though. When I went to the advanced nutrients site, I about fell over, there were so many different things to pick from.

I will admit I like a simple system, so foxfarm appealed to me from the get go.


I was wondering if anyone out there would be kind enough to dumb down the choices for me.

The things I need to know:

Which product is the: Grow?
Which product is the: Bloom?
Which product is the: Micro?

Just so that I can get a good starting place, and get my feel for what advanced has to offer.

I checked their sites FAQ, and their Encyclopedia, but that only made me come here for some stoner to stoner explanations .

I actually found what I needed. I found the GMB stuff.

The expensive stuff is all the additives.

Any fertilizer directed at growing weed is overpriced....... period.

But yes, AN at least with these, is a bit more reasonable.

I wouldnt waste my time on the exotic additives. They are not necessary.

Snake oil is big business in Hydroponics.

just get botanicare pure blend pro (organic) 1 part hydroponic fertilizer, one for veg and one for flower. They are both derived from all natural sources, i have used it twice with great success, i find the buds get more dense and smell and taste much better with this organic fertilizer, every bottle is infused with 4 different types of sugars all natural derived, bat guano, worm castings, seabird guano . A single bottle of either bloom or veg is 25$ Canadian, so 50 bucks Canadian for all the nutrients you need, if your reservoir is larger than 75 liters it will last about a grow and a have, smaller about two grows. Also works as great foliar spray due to all organic derivatives, doesn't leave harmfull residues and is easily up taken by plant. I fully recommend this produced for and indoor grower as it is a very good hydroponic nutrient/fertilizer, and is very cheap for how effective it is.

Amazingly expensive.

Look folks if you are going to grow more than once, just start composting like crazy. weed needs NOTHING else but good soil....that's all it needs.

Well, I grow DWC so Soil is not really a good choice for me.

Just get the sensigrow A&B and Sensibloom A&B
and your good to go.
No additives.
I use F1 and Sensizyme,
but they are not required.
Invest in a good pH meter like a PinPoint
and calibrate your meter often.
Keep the rez temp below 69ºf
I like 66º
DWC is a fast fun way to grow hydro.

A.N. is all about the name.....the performance is WAAAAAY overrated,,,IMO

On the topic of Rez temps. I was wondering what is a good way to keep the temps under 70. I can't seem to get mine below 74.

I have tried to do the frozen water bottle thing, but because I am out of the house for 9 hours a day at the least, I am not always able to constantly change out bottles.

I think that heat had a lot to do with why my last grow just suddenly took a dump. Root rot over took my plant, and my rez temps were about 75ish.
From my readings, 68-70 is where you want your rez.

Try putting more airstones in the bottom of your rez. More oxygen will help. Also, try a an eighth of a teaspoon of hydrogen perxoide (3% solution) per gallon of nutrient solution.

The sure fire remedy to maintaining your rez temp is to use a chiller.
They are expensive but worth every cent.
Check ebay for aquarium chillers.
The chiller will need a pump (sold separately)

$3-400 for 1/4 horse power
$5-700 for 1/2 HP
Set it and forget it.
You'll sleep better.

I got a friend that uses manure on his hydro.. One puff is all you need of the good stuff...lol
