So my partner screwed up when setting the timers for 12/12 switch so I will explain. I have been vegging in 18/6 with lights cutting ON at 11:30am till 5:30am and dark obviously being from 530am to 1130 am. My plan was to have my 12/12 light cycle was ON at 530pm till 530am so the lights would be on at night. My partner screwed up and has the timer set to lights on 1130 AM to 1130 PM. THe cycle just started the first 12hr dark period was 1130 pm tuesday to 1130am wednesday and second 12hr dark period 1130 pm wed to 1130 am thurs. It is 1:45 pm thurs right now and the lights are on. MY QUESTION: I want to get the schedule to: on 530pm to 530 am. When the lights cut off tonight at 1130 pm can I let the lights stay off from 1130 pm till 530 pm friday(18 hours of Darkness) then have them come on at 530 pm till 530 am and just continue this schedule? I am worried about stressing the plants with this changing of Photoperiod causing them to hermie or stunt growth. I am growing several stains from seed. I thought since they have only been in 12/12 for two days that maybe it would be ok and not stress them bad. I want the lights on night to fight the cold temps at nights. I do not want to hermie these plants thanks for your thoughts and opinions. +rep for helping!

Personally i would just do it. Your on the third day of flower so they are transitioning anyways. I'd be a lot more concerned about messing with the light cycle towards the end of flower. cant guarantee it wont hermi but i seriously doubt it.

Thanks for the reply 1itsme, the one 18 hr dark period doesnt bother me as much as the fact that 6hrs of the new proposed lights on period (1130 pm to 530 am) will be during the dark period of the previous 2 12 hour dark cycles.

From what I read your still in veg
so any stress that might have been
is not going to result in a hermie unless
your genetics are bad.
So my advice would be to switch it back to
veg light cycle if it started to flower which im assuming
it didn't yet from only two days it will reverse
itself and go back to veg with no problems.
Good luck and hope that helps:bigjoint:

Just thought I add that I have done this myself when my timer broke
with no problems.

plants don't exactly keep time. I think it's more along the lines of a hormone builds up during the dark cycle and broken down during the light cycle. when the days get short enough, the hormone builds enough for the plant to start to flower. once the plants are in full on flower they are more sensitive especially near the end (plants will hermi on their own if you keep them flowering long enough). right now your on the third day of flower it takes a week or 2 for most plants to switch over from veg to flower.

I quit reading after the 3rd sentence, my mind was already reeling. Either leave it as be or flip it how you want, it shouldnt make a difference this early but nothings ever 100%!

Thanks for the help everyone I think i agree with the census that it is so early in flower that the change shouldn't confuse or stress them this. And if the strain is that sensitive to light cycle change and hermies then i will cull it anyways. So when the lights cut off tonight at 1130pm i will be leaving them off till 530 pm and continue 12/12 from there. Thanks again.

Remember marijuana is a WEED and is hard to kill! you will be find, generally a plant has the "hermie"gene and can be brought on with extreme stress/stresses
