Adjusting GH Nutes for Liquid KoolBloom

Hey all,

I'm running a hempy setup with the GH 3-part nute process. I want to add liquid KoolBloom to my plants and I'm not sure how much (if any) adjusting is needed to add in the KoolBloom without shocking / burning my plants.

Per gallon, I'm adding 8ml of the Flora Grow, 8ml of the Flora Micro, and 15ml of the Flora Bloom.

This gives me a combined N-P-K of 10.5-16.5-23.5.

After the other addatives (other flora line stuff) that NPK ratio turns to: 13-18.3-23.52

Is it save to go with the reccomended dosage of 5ml / g for the Liquid Kool Blume?

As is, if I added it would give me an NPK of: 13-28.3-33.52

Is that too much? Should I try a half dosage and see how the plants react?

A lot of what I read is kind of hit or miss on this, some have said that I should turn down the florabloom while using the koolblume, others have said that because it's not the solid powder stuff I should be just fine adding it in as is.

Any and all insight is always appreciated :)

I generally half the kool bloom. Shit is potent! I tend to first start with a lower dose of the kool bloom and then lighten up on the base nutes and more of the kool bloom the next water change.

For god sakes just start at half strength with this stuff and see what your plants do.

Koolbloom and florabloom both have a very similar mineral composition and both contribute the same ppm to a volume of water, except KB is twice as expensive. You can use them interchangeably but in the future, I'd ditch the koolbloom based on cost and performance.

To answer your question though, if you think you need 15mls of bloom and want to add koolbloom, sub them for one another at an equal rate. I'd be inclined to go 50/50 if I still used them.

This is my first try adding in a bloom booster to see how well it works with my setup, going 7.5 on the florabloom and 7.5 on the koolbloom doesn't sound like a bad idea.

You mentioned cost vs. performance as well, is there another bloom booster you use / recommend?

A bloom booster simply increases the amount of P and K to a level thought to be optimal for flower development. I don't use boosters because I believe I'm already getting enough P and K from my base. In your case with the 3part, you've got two options in my opinion; ditch the boosters and just use more FloraBloom OR use something like hydroplex from Botanicare. The NPK value/ratio of Hydroplex (0-10-6) could work well with what your 3 part is already bringing to the table.

Liquid Kool Bloom has a 0-10-10 and should be used in conjuction with ur 3 part. Discontinue LKB for the Dry KB last 2 weeks.

Dont be afraid of it, If ur setup is dialed in u can use up to double the amount of LKB from 3 week on.

Use this calculator http://www.genhydro.com/calculator/index.html at what ever % works for your plants without burning

Then click on the drain to waste in the system type drop down and always click expert in the program level so it gives u all the products just in case u use some of them.

So say u want to make a 10 gallon batch of watering nutes and u want to run at 50% u would put 5 gallons as ur rez size and hit submit. Dont forget to change to ml or oz and gallons or lt

It is that simple. Play around with it for 5 monutes and ull see what i mean.

Just remember to hit the submit and refresh buttons to make all the necessary changes go into the calculator.

Peace and good luck

I'll play with the calculator a bit and see how I can tweak things there further, right now I've been halfing what I used for FloraBloom and then adding in some Kool Blume, so it used to look like 7.5ml / 7.5ml / 15ml (grow / micro / bloom) it looks like 7.5 / 7.5 / 7.5 / 7.5 KB and they shot right up! But I'm going to keep playing with it to see how I can make it better, thanks for the input everyone!

I use liquid koolbloom along with floranova bloom, works great.its very strong I started out @ 1/4 tsp per gallon.as you increase koolbloom as the other person said, you should reduce base nutes.peace.

I use the same nutrient line alone with kool bloom during flower. Keeping your nutrients as low as possible will make for better tasting and better burning bud that you cant get no matter how much you flush. Try cutting out the "grow" nutrient after about 2-3 weeks of flowering, its pretty much usless anyway at that point because your other nutes can pick up the slack. This will keep your ppm down and allow you to use more koolbloom and base bloom. Started cutting out my "grow" nutes completely after a few very successful grows.
