i'm thiniking of adding two 250w CFL (red spectrum) to my grow tent of 1x1 metre wide. i'd be hanging these down as side-lighting for my plants. would this increase my yield much? depending on my factors, is an extra 4oz total achieveble? this might be a litte bit of a stupid question but i'm trying to think if it's worth it or not. i don't really have the space to get a bigger tent with a 1000w light in so i'm choosing to add two of these in my tent hanging down

um why red? stay as white/blueish as possible for vegetation, then yellow/redder for flowering. ad yea i had 600w bulb up top, then added CFLs all around it to help the nugs lower down get light, otherwise the top was bright, and closer to the bottom was dim. more light is great, keep an eye on temperature tho.

because i want to use them just for flower, im gona use the 600w for vegging and add the red CFL's when flowering. what was your yield like when you added the CFL's?

An extra 500w to get a total increase of 4 oz's? Not the most efficient man. Why not just add a 250mh and go mixed spectrum HID?

EDIT: And a 250w MH will produce less heat if it has a remote ballast outside the tent than 2x250w CFLs, I guarantee it.

i'm in a 1 metre deep x 1 metre wide tent, i wanted the light close to the plants and as a side light. i also wanted the RED spectrum for when im flowering to help with the bud.

But you have a 600w HPS as it is, your better off having blue and red in flowering than just a load of red lights. Also a 250w MH might give you an extra 8 ounces if your good at what you do, and I think its commonly accepted that plants grown under HPS and MH are more potent than plants grown under just HPS/red...just most people dont have the option of using two seperate lights.

would be a good idea if i had space for another reflector in that space, i doubt it'd fit though. the other problem i would face then is my extraction fan would not be powerful enough as i'm running a rvk125-a1. temps get 25-30c in daytime too.

if i was to get a 250w MH, whats your suggestion about the positioning? currently, my 600w is in the center hanging from the pole provided. where would i place this one?

cheers
