Adding Nutes to Soilless Mediums

I have my plants in a soilless medium, just peat moss and vermiculite, some lime in there too.

The babies have been in it for a little while now and its time to give them some nutes. I have some MG tomato mix (18-18-21 Tomato Food, Special Formula Plus Magnesium)

I wanted to know if I can use this, and only this as a source of nutrients. Perhaps dilute to 1/4 strength and add it every other day during my watering.

MG Soil gets a lot of negative feedback here, but I heard the normal ferts are decent, for inorganic that is.

Anyone have experience with a soilless medium and an all in one inorganic nutrient?

dont give them nutes unless they are more than 4 weeks old, cos they wont need them.
i always use potting compost plus vermiculite, its fine to use.

The only reason I would think of using nutes at this age is that there are no nutrients in the soil, at least that is what I believe. Peat Moss and Vermiculite would have very little if any nutrients.

For "soilless mediums", do people use any nutes for the first 2 weeks, or 4 weeks as you stated?

I suppose my real question is if MG Tomato food will have enough of the mirco nutrients for growth, I can see it has good N-P-K values, and even additional micro nutes, but I was curious if this should be supplemented. I know there are a lot of pro organic people here, and I commend you, but I am not interested in doing it 100%. Currently I am using 1/6 MG solution with some horse poo tea and superthrive. I think it is working out decently so far.

your fine with that stuff but you don't feed every 2 days, 1/4 strength would be one teaspoon/gallon of water (assuming it's soluble)
for flowering you'll need something different though, with a lot less nitrogen (first number)

You can use them but they're very strong for weed.... start at about 20% of recommended dose and don't exceed 5ml per gallon once per week......... I used a 20-20-20/10-52-10 for years and fought burn every one.... I use a 3-1-3/2-2-4 now and not a spot... so if you do be careful

Twisty, what do you mean by 5ml? I would prefer using the fert every time I water, simply because I just use a big bucket and mix my ferts and water, and just use that to water every time.

Currently it is 1/6 strength, a little less than 20% as recommend. If I do plan on using it every watering, should I dilute it further?

Here is some basic math that I think is relevant... I have seen people suggest 1/2 strength every 2 weeks. This would translate to 1/4 strength every week, and for every other day we can calculate: 0.25/7*2=.0714. So that is 7% or 1/14th of the full strength feed every 2 days.

This makes sense to me, anyone else? If so, I will dilute it further to 1/14 instead of the 1/6.
