add small mh to flowering

just wanted to pick some brains on maybe adding two of these to a small cabinet alongside a 400watt hps and maybe a white cfl to broaden overall spectrum.

From what I understand, as long as heat is not an issue, they work great together. A lot of people have them for top and side supplement lighting. I may try that myself sometime.

is this something that i could run off of a normal socket or would i need a ballast even for a 50 watt mh? it is a normal e26 bulb

U need a ballast. I use 175w mh's on seedlings and as assistants to dual 400 in veg and for color on 2 1000hps' s for flowering. Awesome lamps that don't draw much. I wire the ballasts for 120 and plug them into my timed power bar that I use for fans.
