Actual 200w CFL Proximity

Alright

So I have my 200w CFL's 7 inches above my seedings and the temp is about 82. I think that is fine for the moments].

My concern is in the space I have when the plants get big they are more then likely going to wind up a couple of inches from the 200w making the temp like 87. But 10 inches down the temp is going to be like 79. Will this burn/dammage the plants or will they pretty much just ignore it as only the tops of the plants are warm and the rest is reletivly cold or at the correct temp?

Thanks. Oh and I am growing lowryders 2.

And if any one has grown with 200w CFL what do you find the burn distance to be?

I think it's a little further then the usual 1-2 inches usually suggested (those stats are probably based on using a few 20-25 watters).

I've found I get slight leaf curl if it's closer than 4 inches with my 200watter - but it's also quite hot here in Europe right now so that may play a factor too.

i keep my 200cfl about 4" away from the plants. Ive never burnt anything with it. I keep 2 mothers under it with some 43 watt sidelights

I thought you could keep you mum happy with just a couple of standard fluorescents? Is 200w not a bit overkill for mothers?

there is no such thing as overkill as long as things don't burn. after the first week or two of life you can put your plant under any light that you could buy.
