Was the top of the class in the 70s/80s along with a few others. Looks like too old school now. Many more quality breeds now. Most likely all the south bag weed from Mexico has a history of AG.

thanks for the info but im trying to find acapulco gold as pure as it can be. i have space to grow and im looking for a giant
If you want to talk about old school top of the class look into Maui Waui. Back in the day it was "the best" and hard to find exotic. See if your mom remembers that one. Outdoor and by the traits a big grow.

maui waui, panama red, acapulco gold , columbian gold, but the best of em all was the thai stick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had some Thai Stick in the 70s and I mean it was wonderful. It was like a shot of siratonin, two hits and you were immediately just plain happy. I would give anything to know what strain that really was, from what part of Thailand or whatever it actually was- Excellent.

I have to say about World of Seeds, I was interested in their stuff once and eventually found a bunch of very bad reviews about their seed performance so even at the price I wouldn't order.

It's widely thought most of the South and Latin American genes were brought by slaves from Africa and there's probably something to that because most of those sativas resemble the African landraces.

I would just look for something proven that's supposed to be a real gold type strain and has good reviews. I've searched a lot and there's really no dependable Acapulco out there. There is a Mexican landrace x Blueberry around and I bet that's good but still probably not that close to the old Gold.

Reeferman has one called Love Potion #2 that's real Colombian Gold x G13 backcrossed to Colombian Gold. It's supposed to be excellent, a really great happy high.

High Grade Seeds has Kona Gold and I've seen grow reports and smoke reports. It's a very good one.

There's another site that sells what looks to be an authentic worked Colombian Gold and only around $45. I bought a pack but haven't grown it. It takes 12-14 weeks and you can PM me if you're really interested in that one, I'll link you to it.

Cannabiogen has Destroyer which is not Gold but is Meow(?) Thai dominant and if you get that pheno is supposed to be that extremely happy anti depression strain wtihout paranoia. I'm hoping to have that one some day.

I can't really think of anything else off hand that might be even close to an old school sativa high.

I had a little experience with trying to grow real acapulco gold, I went down to acapulco on vacation around December 1992, went on a quest for a real good amount of weed for my vacation in acapulco. After searching for one day by asking taxi drivers where to score, we found it 1 pound of real acapulco gold weed just cut and perfectly cured to the golden color, the guy wanted $100 but we bargained him down to $80. It was fresh you knew this herb was alive just a month before we smoked it. So 10 more days left in acapulco and 1 pound of Real acapulco gold to smoke, crazy!!! That herb was very potent but not couch lock but spaced out mexican sativa to the max one fat joint could get 3 or 4 people really stoned smoking a little more than half of it. We made huge blunts that were the size of regular cigars, we would smoke them on boat trips in the pacific around acapulco, on the boat with the wind blowing that huge regular cigar size blunt of real acapulco gold it was incredible dark liquid tar would ooze out the tip of it half way through smoking it, of course 2 or 3 pulls was all we needed. Any back to the seeds I brought some back and tried to grow it hydro in my closet with a baby bloomer, it over grew my closet and I gave up it just didn't fit in there, then bought some sensi seeds and a bigger grow space, at the time I thought that the sensi was the ultimate and I still think they are but I would definitely pay $100 for 10 of those real acapulco gold seeds if I could get them again cause it was really good weed that did impress, just like NL#5 x Haze that weed also leaves an impression, any ways when I was young I did come across real good stains like acapulco gold, real chocolate thai from Koh samui, and green thai also from koh samui and at least a few other times real great land race weed I wish I had kept the seeds. The real reality is that these seeds might still exist but it would be way to hard to go get it again and cost to much time and money, and it easier to just go to the attitude and get whats available. And by the way the acapulco gold at barneys farm can't be real because its to short.

No I havent, because my grow space was designed in the mid 90's at that time indoor weed grew taller than today, most of Barneys farms are to short for my grow space his starins are about half as tall as I wood like them to be, I may try one of barneys farms one day but right now I will stick with what works for me sensi seeds.

I can´t believe no one mentioned Barney´s Acapulco Gold yet...they sell seeds, the seeds are affordable, the smoke is very, very good! I had it at their coffeeshop in amsterdam...great sativa high and strong grapefruit smell. would consider groing it myself.
