About to Harvest and I have a ?

I have two beautiful plants full of buds, I made the mistake of having both plants in the same pot. They are doing fine but one plant's hairs are starting to turn brown while the other is still growing fat buds. I know that the one plant is going to be ready to pick before the other.
I was told that the last week of my grow I should switch the lighting to 11hours on for a few days then 10 hours on for a few days then 24 hours with no light to trick the plant into thinking it is dieing so it produces more resign to attract pollinating insects. I want to try this 24 hour trick to maximize my resign but the only problem is the other plant wont be ready.

Any suggestions?

If I do the 24 hour thing then cut the plant that is ready out and then continue the other one on 12/12 until it is ready will it be okay? or will the light differences mess it up?

1st - DON"T DO THAT AGAIN!

are they different genetics?

2nd - is it possible to put a black plastic garbage bag (or something similar) over the ready plant so the not ready plant keeps getting light?

I am 40 days into flowering I was going to go to 55 I dont know what strains they are so this is all a gamble it is my first grow. but just from checking it yesterday to today you can notice a lot more brown hairs

im thinking i will have to chop the one i just really wanted to try the 24 hours off thing... it has a lot more resign than the 2nd one and i just wanted it to be the best it can be

i can post pics but its hard to see with the 600 w light on and the plants branches are mixed with eachother so you wont be able to tell whats what, and it wont show the browning of the hairs.

Nah don't worry about the 24 hour thing just let them grow regularly, chop the one that finishes 1st then whenever the 2nd one is rdy chop.

the lighting schedule you speak of to "trick" it is a gimmick and is complete bullshit. keep your 12/12 schedule. At 40 days you likely have another 15. Like said cut the one when its finished then the next whenever it finishes. Keep it simple.

looking pretty dank my friend. And it's inevitable that one plant grows bigger and stronger than the other because almost always one will get the best root space suffocating the other but if you're pot is big enough it shouldn't be too much of a problem.
