About Germinating Red Bell Seeds

so i've tried about 100 seeds so far 24 in jiffy pellets 30 or so in mg organic choice soil and a whole lot more with paper towels

i've got one sprout out of it

and even thought it look's healthy it has not grown at all in about 2 weeks

i use r-o water ph'ed at 7 keep the seed's @ about 80-85 while germing no nute's

can anyone guide me as to what im doing wrong i just really want some damn pepper's

Hey man I think you have done everything right bell peppers just grow slow as hell

Hell I can't get any peppers to grow so Id be stoked with that one. Ive went through a couple packs and don't have the first plant to show for it. The potted peppers I bought aren't much better, stunted for a month in the ground, repotted to good soil now their in flower but about 8" tall.

I'm tuned in for this well guarded secret.

FUCK thats not the answer i was looking for i was hoping that i was doing soming very wrong and could start over and get some better growth

i guess i will just keep watching it and the seed's i've got going

how long should i wait to see if the seed's will grow? i've been giving them about 3-4 weeks with no sprouts then toss and start some more

kinda funny thing is i really did not think any out of that batch would have made it cuz for about a week i was misting out of the wrong bottle it had 1 1/2 teaspoon's of fox farm's grow big in it high in (N)

maybe that's part of it i figured it was more the cause of it being stunted

first off thanks for the rep,well what i did was just throw some seeds in a cup of dirt no special germination tricks or anything let them pop up on there own. That seemed like eternity but eventually they did come up. I think 3 to 4 weeks is more then enough time for them to pop up, I had a batch of hot peppers that didnt pop. Maybe there just some bunk seeds. quick question are you using store bought seeds or seeds from peppers at the grocery store? if your using ones from the grocery store are you allowing them to dry first before planting? Also try just sticking them in the dirt without pre-germing them maybe that will help, just keep the top moist and you should be fine.

I've just been using ferry morse seeds, sowed right into the row. I haven't had a problem with anything but the peppers.... 3 rows of corn now 3ft tall, tomatoes hitting 4ft, runner beans just taking off, squash are turning into bushes, watermelon and cucumbers are up, but nope not the peppers.

LOL I use FERRY~MORSE Organic Seed Starter Mix, and i get my seeds from frutis and veggies I but at the grocery store. To me the peppers were easy but just grew very very slow. I have only had problems with Strawberrys and oranges but ive got 5 orange plants but still no luck on those strawberrys. When it seems as if the seeds are bunk i just throw them into a big pot of dirt outside and I forget about them and sometimes when I check back the plants are above ground, then i carefully transplant them into a party cup.

i've used both seed packs from a local garden shop and store bought pepper's and yes i did let them dry out for about a week

i have some just in soil now about a week in under the light from my aero garden really close (not the seed's the seedling) it's just too cold here and the weathers acting crazy just last weekend we got snow so on the window sill is still too cold i would think i heard they like warm temp's so i put i under the cfl's close to keep temp's in the 80's

i think it's going to be nice tomarrow and with put it in the sun and see if it help's

does any one know what the light cycle should be maybe i'll just throw it in with my flowering ladies if 12/12 would be good for it

im also tring strawberry's. put seed's in soil two or three day's ago idk but when i looked at it today it kinda look's like some sort of mold is growing on top of the soil i did not get a real good look at it though

it seem's weed is the only plant that i can grow

Yeah peppers do like it warm, um..... if possible get a heating mat and keep it under them that should help you out alot. As far as light cycles im not sure on that mines are outdoors but you can probably give them 18/6 hours or less as long as its more the 12/12 hours cuz that that trigures flowering I believe.

Yeah i have had the mold grow on my soil aswell i just gave up on strawberry's for know. Man + rep for the weed I would trade my peppers for that any day. I have had some luck with growing weed but your looks perfect not one blemish. Ill take some pics of my peppers tommorrow they are getting rained on right now.

yeah that's what i was thinking about the light cycle's and the heat pad the only one i have is for people and i would think that it would get to hot idk maybe i'll give it a shot at this point i have nothing to lose
where i live we are @ only about 14 hour's of light i want to start a new weed grow outdoors but worried it will flower too soon

no this is my first grow well my first real grow everything before this one has been when i was like 15/16 and had no clue @ all

and this grow though it has had very little problem i developed a form of mildew that im fighting now the first pic you can see it white powder on the fan leaf's

i just started some peppers today. I through 10 in a small pot and put them in my veg box. once any start to sprout I'll transplant into something of it's own and still leave it on veg. I figure 2 weeks and then go to flower. I don't know. I guess I'll google now.

Its always been the same for me , a little miraclegro in a small starter pot.I use the rottesrie chicken containers as a mini greenhouse and leave them in the laundry room where its warm and ive always been successful with them and tomatoes , chillis and so on.

Greetings by the way , i just joined , couldnt resist helping out with what ive always thought was an easy thing to grow.In saying that if the failure is repeated its possible the source of the seeds is at fault as you say.

well ive done it

i have about 10 sprouts growing right now and there looking great very healthy

i also have about 7-8 strawberry spouts. There still very small but there there none the less I also have radish'es going plan on peppers radish'es and about 6 cloned weed plants for a nice outdoor grow garden that im starting next week!!!!!!

and +rep to fullmoonkid. i really like the idea of rottesrie chicken containers as a mini greenhouse sounds awesome and the next seeds that i start will probably be like that i have made something similar to that but your idea sounds easier

Thanks Just8420 , im glad i gave an idea worthy of a rep , thank you.The containers are perfect , even have an air vent already on the top that can open or close.Best part is you get to scoff the chicken too The dome is plenty high enough and reusable time after time.

yeah that sound great what im using now is party cups and i cut a zip lock bag in half and use rubber band to hold on top of the cup seems to work very good just too much work and like you said you get to eat the chicken too
