Hard work is usually for the dumb asses and degenerates who were to stupid to go or finish college.
Plus, a hard working job is not the type of job you can retire on.
Chicks might of been into it 20-30 years ago when you were able to graduate high school and land into a high paying steel industry job,or the auto industry.
I got news for ya, those jobs all went to mexico, or some other 3rd world nation.
To be able to make a decent income that where you'll be able to have the american dream someday, you'll have to get an education.
Plus, what would are you gonna do if your back goes out.....Live off a shitty disability check for the rest of your life.

Any Mine (at least in this area) will take care of you untill you die!!!

Also you save some on your own to (this is what smart people do collage boy). As for your salary in a Coal Mine here, depending on your level and company, you can make $35+ hr and lets not forget over time pay (that time and a half normal pay) Saturdays (thats twice normal pay) and sundays (that three time your normal pay)!!!!!!!! O and buy the way a normal shift is 10 hours. SO think about it $35x10hrsxsunday = $1050 (and thats not if you were in over time) Thats oinly a days work. Sounds a little nicer doesnt it....lol

I got news for you, those jobs are still here and not only that but they are apart of what keeps your job intack because with out the coal you can not have your job what ever it is. Coal provides the world with 93% of it energy the rest is hydro and nuclear. only less than 1% is the wind and sun power (but I do support the development of these alt. energy sources).

So go ahead try to turn on your computer with out the coal mine or even cook you food every day, watch tv, charge your cell phone, turn on the light in the dark, or even grow your dope in doors!!!! You need to research before you type something!!!!

O really well I dont know when the last time you looked at the class offered by your local collage but coal mineing is one of them and guess what I have been there and done that I have all the certifaction to work in any coal mine in the USA.

I first off have to thank you for bring the black lung up. Yes it is still here and will never go away but each coal miner has to wear what is called a smapler this device will take in the air around the coal miner during his whole shift then at the end if the samples it took are to concentrated they shut down that section untill the dust particals are removed and the area is cleared agian.

Although this rarely happens, if you were to look at a mine mapping of a section you would see the mine is very well ventalated and they also have people called rock dusters. These people put lime stone rock dust on the walls, celing, and floor (also called ribs, roof, and bottom by coal miners). This stops to things: fires and to much floating rock dust.

Also I would rather have the green lung but unless I can grow and sell for a living I need something more and the coal mine is the best option so far in the area. I have all my equippment and certifications and could start tonight but noone will hire me. And yes I bugg the hell out of them and they all know me by name.

Yes the death rate is terable but according to my records giving to me by an MSHA inspecter:

While I'm sitting in my cozy little office taking 2 hour lunch breaks, working bankers hours, having every weekend off, getting 4 weeks paid vacations, and getting paid twice as much as the highest paid coal miner, I'll be thinking about you sweating your ass off, and breathing in god knows what.

If your that passionate into being a coal miner, have at it.

I personally think that the best job is a college professor. Think about it you get summers off, long winter break, get paid around 50k-100k+ a year. As soon as you get tenure you really do not have to worry about a thing, you have you graduate students do all of the real work. And if you go into a science related field you do not pay for graduate school, so you do not actually build up debt.

That's a really good suggestion. I've given it some consideration, but I don't know the first thing about the career.

I think JfGordon (If I got the name correct..) is a college professor of some sort, as CrackerJax about that one. I've come across posts that imply as much anyway...

Probably a pretty kick ass job...

If I was you and felt this into something i'd give up the weed and do it. Be a piss head on your days off instead.

Personally, i'm with Bongjuice (not about slating your desired profession!!) but yeah i love living the 9-5, weekends off, good money, cosy whatever the temperature outside, smoking all night, give a shit if im tired the following day ill just have an easy one!
