A serious good problem: Is it too crowded?

Hello everyone,

I have a serious good problem. I think my plants are too extremely crowded and I don't know a solution to fix this in my situation. I am in an apartment and I have all the odor control (hopefully it could filter all for this batch). I don't have another room to use. The space is pretty limited. So I have to make best out of one room I have. I could expand it but I want to see your professional suggestion before I make a decision.

Strains:
4 White Widows
4 Orange Buds
(Both are from Dutch Passion Seed Company)

Equipments:
2 X 600w HIDs
2 feet carbon filter and a 440CPM fan
4ft x 4ft x 6.5ft grow tent

Planting Period:
Vegetable approx. 2.5 months and still going. I only have two weeks before I switch those into flowering. I couldn't switch it right now because I just poured organic fertilizer two days ago. Three weeks ago, I FIM'd those plants.

The problem:
It is pretty obviously too much and too crowded. I only have a foot clearance at ceiling before it's all maxed.

1) Expand from 4ft x 4ft x 6.5ft to 10ft x 4ft x 6.5ft but the problem isn't solved with the ceiling issue. However, I could LST on that solution since I have a little more room to spread it out. I did tried LST in the condition I am currently at and the problem only solved temporary, obviously. :)
2) 4 plants at time for flowering and another 4 plants to continue vegetable until the first 4 plants complete its' flowering stage. (2.2 months approx.)
3) Other better suggestion you have then please make a comment with it.

Thank you all,

I am conducting this planting under a legal state with Rx.

Wow those look awesome but 3 months veg might have been way to long for a limited space like this.. hopefully someone can help you solve...

Looking awesome Buds, but defo too much veg time, they will easily double in size during flower and their pretty cramped as is. You will certainly need to expand your grow space.... or possibly only flower 6 of em and cul the other two or keep em as mothers.

I'm curios to see how this works out for you bro.

That is what I thought, and I decided to withheld this option to see if you guys could bring this up.

cut the ones closer to the light down about 6 or 8 inches maybe more and switch the lights to 12 12 hopefully they dont stretch too much during flower

But as you said bro, it's a serious GOOD problem...makes a refreshing change ha..ha..
Be sweet if you could make up a small veg tent and keep a couple of your girls to train for your next run.

2 600 w hids will give you nice yields in a scrog or a sog
Ah, I just found out what SOG is.

Actually, I want to yield at least 1.5 pound per plant. I read several famous cannabis book and they recommend me to grow it in vegetable state for at least 3 months. So, I used this recommendation.

In next batch, I'll use SOG.

What is SOG/SCROG?

sea of green, is growing lot's of small single cola plants
screen of green, is when you train them through a screen, lot's of good vids on youtube for you to check out. Very useful in maintaining a uniform canopy, You have to train them at an early age so this isn't really a viable option for you.

If you top your plants as putangluv suggested it will buy you some headroom alrite but cause your plants to bush out and take up a lot of horizontal space.

I would pick your six best looking plants (or even less) and LST them (tie the tall branches down) to save you headspace.

Will you take some pics of your 'jungle' during flower?

Another thing you could do is get a Cloner....top those beasts, and put those tops in the cloner... and get a t5 light to veg under...then you can do a longer veg time and get the plants to do what you want... also you can get a continuous cycle in the bud tent..

Ha..ha... I want to yield 2 tonnes per plant but that won't happen ....neither will 1.5lbs per plant.... that's 670g per plant!! Even if you manage to pull 1g per watt you will only get 5oz from each of your 8 plants, totaling 1200g (not too shabby)...... to get 1.5lbs per plant with 8 plants you would need at least 9 600w lights and some very green fingers.... Very few peeps have seen an indoor plant produce anything near a pound.
1.5lbs from your whole grow would be a result imho

yes 1.5 pound per plant yield s never, ever gonna happend sorry to say.. But I can dream cant i :)? Only way i see a plant yielding this much is outdoor + perfect genetics + perfect conditions

If you are soil grower and you are not an iexpert, count with 0.8g / w at best :P. Also in this a lot of genetics come into play beside all the growing skill needed.

But honestly dont ever expect a yield over 0.6g/watt if you are working with a strain you dont know. And by know i mean you grown this plants many cycles.

Anyways i hope u get as much as you need! :D

Fair play to ya for being nice.... I know many here at RIU who would seriously take the piss at such ambitious yields

LIsten to these guys . SCROG em . LST them . HST them . They will love you for it . I was going to post you a link to a video that will show you how and why , its called TRAINING THE 1LB MARIJUANA PLANT on you tube , but now they want you to pay 0.99 for it . Whatever . There are tons of great vids on you tube .

A 1.5 lb plant indoors IS ambitious , and I believe it is possible .

I am using 7.5 gallon pots with the very best soil. The soil wasn't cheap. I read several cannabis books and they that is how they could get at least 1.5 lb per plant. One book said you could get a 5lbs from a plant, but I don't think I couldn't get that far with my specifications. So I am going to see if they are right or close to that. To be honest with you all, the cannabis I have here are really insane and monsters. They are growing like a hell satan fighting against the holy light. It is like you are watching at the greatest battle ever in the history! It's amazing and it is even better than watching a bon fire at night or any TV shows or movies. It's amazing!

Most of cannabis are at 3 feet and few are at about 4 feet high. I am so afraid to cut the tops, they are the most beautiful beasts right there.

I have decided to withheld two plants, one strain of each. So I could clone the strains from their mothers to jump start the batches.

I think I could get tomato cage and train the tops to crawl through the cages. Isn't that good idea?

Could the books possibly be referring to outdoor plants? Outdoor is a completely different story. Don't forgot your overall yield is related to the available light.... using 1200w the max yield you will get is 2.6lbs from your whole crop and even this is very unlikely, even if you had more space and more plants your yield won't break this barrier unless you add more lights.

Yep the tomato cages could help, or you could tie the tall tops down a bit.

I wish you all the best with your grow mate, and don't be disappointed with your final yield.

Just for reference, I use 850w and usually pull about 620g (22oz) from 8 plants.... that's just over 2.5oz per plant.... and this is very good.
