A question for Willamette Valley growers

What types would be recommended for chronic pain? Specifically, a failed back surgery, coupled with fibromyalgia, and carpal tunnel. I am at the end of my grow, and looking for new clones. Any input is appreciated.

I'm going through something very similar as you- chronic pain issues from failed surgeries. I've tried many, many different strains and still haven't found anything that directly relieves my pain. The most relief I get from cannabis is the way it takes my mind off the pain for a bit- almost makes me forget about it, but that's short lived. Others claim actual pain reduction. Everybody is different and cannabis will effect people different ways. I usually use cannabis in the evenings only for some relief and to help me get to sleep, I don't like being "stoned" all day. I prefer being myself during the day- clear headed. Wish I had a better answer for you, I feel what your going through. My best suggestion would be to try some Sativas, some Indicas, and some of the CBD strains and figure out which gives you the most relief. GL.

My thanks for a similar viewpoint. I should have been more specific. I mean the strains that one could find in the area. I am not impressed with these so-called help centers, clinics, etc. I have currently three different types....northern lights, sour diesel, and og kush. Can't say that I'm all that impressed, though I am not complaining, as they were given to me. Could I ask your recommendation? What are you growing?

I'm sorry but I read this and had to laugh, and the first time that came to mind was the old saying Captain Obvious. "Try some Sativas, some Indicas, and some CBD strains". Um unless I'm missing something what else is there to try? you covered all of the bases :)

Good strong medibles for the really bad days. and strong strains like Chemdawg or heavy indicas. The sats will get you to dwelling on the pain in your head and will make it worse. Take your OG Kush to an amber trich stage in flowering, aka let finish longer than usual. Be wary of some indicas though, Shishkaberry, and some others that float around aren't strong enough. One thing though, how many people do you know take prescription pain killers and worry bout taste and feeling clear headed all day long? If you want pain relief, you're gonna have to put up with some side affects like "feeling stoned", lol. I'd rather fight goin to sleep, or being drowsy during the day, and be relatively pain free, than not. My pain drives me mostly, so that's how I look at it. That's why potency is my main priority in searching for strains, not taste, yield, or looks, although if you get any of those, its a bonus. Ask round for the ChemD or Chem4, or Chem crosses and even some OG crosses. Heavy indicas, old school indicas And if you can't acquire any good medibles, make your own butter to your own liking and system. IMO

I'm fairly new to the OMMP program here in the Valley, also dealing with severe pain and just wanted to remind you, oldschoolsmoking, that it might help to also look at how you're consuming the products. Smoking, eating, tinctures, RSO, rubs, etc. You might get very different results depending on how you medicate. Smoking will go directly into the blood stream and the body's systems including organs such as the brain (bypasses the blood-brain barrier) and ingesting will need to be processed by the stomach and liver (and others). This will affect the type of relief you feel as well as how long it takes to get that relief. Also, I try to remember that my medications are a way to help me heal and not just cover up the symptoms. Sometimes a combination of strains might address both the pain and the healing. Ointments/rubs applied directly to the painful area
should help a LOT. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help. I know where I can get the chemD. As far as the rubs go...I will be making a batch in a couple of weeks. Was considering the oil, but never done it. Anyone got any exp. with the oil, as far as its' effectiveness?

I don't have much experience with topical methods, but RSO from Maui Bubble Gift (high CBD strain from Eugene I think) orally works well for diabetic neuropathy.

I thought topical rubs were b.s. stoner pipe dreams. A dispensary gave me a sample. Both of my hips and legs were sore that day. I rubbed some on my right hip joint. Five minutes later, I was stunned. Actual pain relief! My wife thinks I'm a total pothead but when I rubbed her back with it, she became a believer, too.

they have gotten good with the rubs, I know peeps that are experimenting with arnica and DMSO and such, I had some with the arnica, oil and coconut crème, it worked quick and did last a bit.Arnica is not to be used everyday, but for the bad days, its dandy. Its pretty easy to make yourself, the rubs and such imo

Per the strains mentioned about that work for pain Ive found, one I forgot to mention was Chemstone, may be cut only, best of two best Chems x 2 great OGs.

I second that emotion. Harvesting toward the end of the "harvest window" seems to give me what I want for pain relief, but then, I *like* couch lock as the alternative to writhing in pain. It's such a relief to realize, "Hey, nothing hurts anymore! Ha ha ha -- my limbs are floating. And this icecream tastes INCREDIBLE!"

I still cant find one batch of meds, even from good growers down south, that they let finish and ripen proper. Even indoor with a pro gro room! I guess when you are on the money cycle, you can't let lil things like trich color matter when the batch is already sold and spoken for. Makes no sense to me to go to all that time and trouble and can't wait one or two weeks longer, as the effect on the medicine potency is remarkably better...?

I know what you mean! The "money cycle" is dead on correct. We've got an acquaintance we go to when my attempts at a perpetual grow fail and we run out, and jeesh, it's harvested way too soon, and there was no "curing" time whatsoever. Yeah, it will sustain a burn, and get you *there*, but ick. Tastes like lawn. And the household complains, "It's not as good as yours! When will the next plants be ready?" :-P

would you trust a grower that doesn't smoke? just grows for money and supposedly compassion. I know some gals that do the same thing, but they swear its not for the money, lol. Would you eat a cook's food if he wouldn't? How would he know the good reports aren't coming from people just trying to smooze this person up for cheap mediocre meds? I've never seen this anywhere else, most at least grow for themselves, and if good enough, they may expand, but to just grow and complain of expense, don't
smoke i, and keep on chargin low prices for low quality med, why would you do it over and over? I guess maybe for processing purposes also, seems like an excuse to try to make bucks and disguise it under compassion. JMHO
