A question about nutrients for coco grow

Hello everyone,

I might be posting in the wrong forum, but I need help. I live in Ukraine and am finally about to order seeds this week (if I find everything I need). I plan on growing in coco coir. I understand that coco is fed just like hydro, so liquid nutes. I don't like any of the liquid nutes that I saw at the several stores I visited, but I did find something interesting. It's a powdery nutrient that gets dissolved in water and thus is fed like a liquid. Will that work for coco? I really like this nutrient line. They have a formula for veg (30-10-10) and for flowering they have two, and I think I will mix them during flowering, (10-54-10 and 0-25-50). What do you all think? Should I use these nutrients or should I keep looking for a liquid formula?

Also, any tips on what I can use for calcium, magnesium and sulfur? I read about Botanicare CalMag, but can't find that here.

Theoretically you can use any nutes on coco, it just behaves differently from soil in that when you water until you see runoff, you know it has flushed out all the old salts and nutes from the soil.

However, some nutes are specifically meant for coco, some for hydro, some for soil etc. Whilst you *can* use any of them, it is probably advisable to use the ones specifically designed for your medium, especially if you're new to the game.

I couldn't find Botanicaire CalMag either, I got something called Magnecal instead, but actually if you get good base nutrients you shouldnt need this. I am in a very soft water area (very low levels of minerals in the water), but have only used the Magnecal once. It induced a lockout of Manganese and caused no end of problems. After that I just stuck to the base nutes.

I would kill to find some coco specific nutes. Coco is not a popular medium out here, as a matter of fact hydro is just starting to appear in some places, so anything that is not soil is not popular. Thanks for the info though.

Maxibloom and silica blast and ur good to go
I wish I could grab brand name nutes, but none of the brand names I keep reading about exist out here.

If no coco nutes, get hydro nutes. Maybe Vitalink Max?
Not seeing Vitalink for sale in Ukraine. My wife dug up a site that sells hydroponic nutes from a company called General Hydroponics Europe, or GHE. Going to call the customer service and see if they have a distributor locally or how their shipping works.

Ya I found Canna Coco A & B but the NPK (5-4-3) looks all messed up. It's a two part nute system that is supposed to be fed throughout the whole life cycle, which makes no sense to me and go against everything I have read about growing cannabis. Check it out: http://www.canna-uk.com/coco

Well... im not so pro so i stick on what i learn through my little experience...
Basically if u have any pro series nutrient just follow their schedule, but here it comes my little experience use only 70% strength dose and start with bloom nutes gradually.
I don't know about n-p-k shit i know just basics and i have nice results now on my 4th grow. So if u can get any of good nutes get it and stick on their schedule just on 70% strength. But of course u need to get your own experience...
good luck finding nutes :D

Hey Greensea, do you use Canna Coco A & B yourself? If so, do you supplement it with anything? I read a couple of posts on other sites where users said that they supplement Canna Coco A & B with boosters during flowering and I was wondering if that's true, and if it is, what my options are.

No im not using Canna atm but i will in future... I will try coco run and i think canna is best to go but is my little opinion only... i read about u need boost a bit during flowering... but calm down u need listen your babies they will tell u what they need...
And remember cannabis is a weed and weed dont need to much efferot... LESS = MORE!!! golden rule for newbie.
Man i suggest u (and i belive can get in UKR) .. to go for plagron starter kit <--around 45€.... U wont need anythink else during all grow process with great results..... its cheep and pro ... this i meant for soil... but if u go hydro go for GHE u cant fail...
And i strongly suggest if u are doing 1st time dont go anything else than basic nutes @ 70% strenght...
No aditives or any boosters... u can hurt plants if u dont know how and when to use with your specific pheno type...
Dont do mistake what i do at my first grow... JUST DONT OVERDO THINGS :D

Thanks for the reply Greensea. I don't plan on using boosters just for the sake of boosters, I just have my heart set on Canna Coco because I am set on growing in coco coir. I have been researching how to grow cannabis for over a year now and to not overdo it is the main thing everyone says to newbies, so ya, I got it lol. It's just that I will be ordering my nutes over the internet and it may take some time to deliver them, so I was trying to have everything I may need, but I see your point. And you're right, this is a weed, a plant that has a natural ability for not dying. Thanks Greensea, I hope it's ok for me to follow you on this site.
