A mother that has already flowered

I have what's left of a small plant that was flowered outdoors after being used as a mother in the spring. I saved the very base of the plant with some sun leaves and small buds still attached. I'd live to put it back under t5s and use it as a mother again.

Is this a bad idea? What are the buds going to be like from the clones? What are buds usually like the second time you flower a plant? I'm doing this 1/2 as a way to preserve this breeding and 1/2 as an experiment in plant cruelty ;) I dug up the root ball, washed out the dirt and now I'm going to see if i can re-veg it quickly using a coco/perlite mix. Right now it's stuffed in a pint jar full of water to keep it alive.
