ok, i want to grow out a couple of mothers. this is what i thought would be the best way to do it. vegg from seed for about a month, then switch the light cycle to 12/12 for a week and once i can tell the sex, revert back to 18/6 under t-5's??? is this a good plan? is there easy way??? feminied seeds work better just grow them big nad take cuttings from them?? need a little help on this one. what do i need to keep them alive and healthy? just light and good soil? or nutes to? fans ? what are good temps/humidity for mothers?

if you plan on growing out some beans for a month, then don't switch to 12/12. just keep them in veg until they show. reverting back will just waste time. just keep them in veg all the time and feed them weekly. treat mothers just like other plants. if you're gonna keep them under a t-5, don't feed full strength nutes. if she gets too big, just take her out of the container and saw off some roots and re-plant.

You get a good mother by growing your seeds out until they show preflowers. This usually happens 6-8 weeks after popping out of the soil. Once you have Known females you take 10 cuttings from each and attempt to clone all of them. Flower out the original plants and make notes of which ones ended up yielding the most, tasting the best, growing the easiest etc etc etc. By then you hopefully have at least 1 cloned plant out of the 10 cuttings you made. Take the one with the attributes you most want and make it the mother plant.

To keep a mother You just grow it like you would any MJ plant, the only thing is that you just keep it under constant 18/6 lighting. Feed it regularly with a low dose of fertilizer and it should serve as a clone queen for about 6-9 months. After that they tend to get a bit too thick in the stem for my taste and start outgrowing the space. I just take the last set of cuttings and keep one of the clones as a new mother and grow it out. you can keep a single plant genetic going for many years this way.
