A great lesson learned

I learned a great lesson, about two days ago. I found out that if you want to use flowering nutes, you've gotta get some that are actually made for your plants, and not some other ones.

Here's how it happened:
-Day I started to flower, I gave me plant some Shultz Africain Violet flowering nutes (8-14-9), and my plant started to flower a tincy, wincy little.

-after about 1 week of the same schedule, and the same plant food, it had barely grown to flower as I often see on the net (since this is my first grow).
I receive some new fertilizer, Dyna-Gro Liquid Bloom (3-12-6), administer it, and the very next day, BANG! It's actually looked like if it finally decided to bloom properly.

Lesson learned: Don't look around for the cheapest flowering nute you can find at any old grocerie shop. Look for a proper one, even if it does cost a 10-15$ more. A nice place to get some too is off of ebay.

Lookin' forward to that other thing that's supposed to arrive next week!

'till next time! :weed:

How great is this? I've learned another lesson, yesterday!

When you live with people, it's hard to have them stay out of your buisness. One of my mates with whom I'm living decided to look around my room to try to get a CD of some kind. Obviously, his eyes got caught by the small strands of light coming out from my box, so he's just about to go to open it (and friggin' crap this really did like in a movie)
I enter my room and see him, while he's supposed to not ever come in.

Then he starts to ask a few special questions about my box. I say I've been trying to grow peppermint (had to find something that resembled pot a little)(also that I couldn't tell him straight out, since he's quite... conservative of his bloody parent brainwashing), and explained that I didn't really like having the bright growth lights going into my eyes when I was trying to study, and god knows that nursing is a lot o' that.

Finally, he believed me, but with what seemed to be some hint of reluctance. Since I'm not much to take chances, I bloody chucked my beautiful plants. (Had 2 F1 Hybrid "Skunk Haze" plants. Original Skunk x No.1 Haze, or something of the sort, I forgot)

At least I still have a few pics hidden somewhere of the night I killed them. They had just finished showing sex, and I'd finaly gotten them on some proper flowering nutes, but Nooooooooooo-oooooooooooooo, MR just had to snoop around.

Anyways, here they are.

Please note that all 4 are from the same plant.

It was about 18.5 inches tall. So I'd probably think that had I been able to harvest it once the time came, I'd have some.... 1-1.5 ounces out of the little bugger.

Those were the dogs bollucks mate. Sriously though first rule of fight club...dont talk about fight club. Dont grow unless you can maintain 100% secrecy. And never buy cheap nutes. You would never knowingly put water gas in your car...same goes with nutes. Only the best. Good luck man

Write up a bill for your areas 0z/$ and then give it too him, tell him that is the rental cost of the time he spent snooping in your space.

If he was not supposed to be in there and you caught him red-handed it is his fault directly for your loss. From the sounds of it if he is your room mate he will be well past an age that understands the concept of private space/property, yet chose specifically to disregard any respect for yours. You have the right to your own uninterrupted space. The cat paid for its curiousity with its life, don't let this guy off scott free, if he won't pay you back then it may be time for a new room mate.

Could be an idea, but I doubt that'd change anything. Since it isn't quite mine to charge him anything. In anycase, I guess I sorta "regained my losses", since out of the seeds I bought, I received a few free extras. I simply sold them to a friend who was looking to grow too. (I, though, added a little.... "overprice" on the lot, but I guess 6$ a seed (when I bought them for about 2.5 each, isn't too bad of a collection.)

Probably what I'll do is simply wait until I can move out, since I have a contract with the guy for about 1 year, still, and I'll then be able to bloody move out, or if he moves out first, I'll bloody use his room for the grow, dang nabbit!

Anyways, thanks for all the responses, mates. Makes me feel better that I'm not the only one that's sad 'bout the whole thing.

(oh, and just to add too, although the pics are from my biggest plant, my 2nd one was about 4 inches smaller... What a waste :wall:

Oh! Another thing that I learned too! Always check whatever weed you buy, even if it is with a friend. I just got myself some bloody ditchweed (doN't know if that's how people call it, but hey.), and it was too bloody wet!

Ok, I've finally felt it start now, but still. Harsh, wet, and bloody.... Last buds I had were nice and "waxy", these are friggin wet... agh.

Oi mate. I can assure you that you probably misread what was posted, if you said what you said. This isn't something about "I'm not sure if this is it". I know for a fact that the blooming nutes I was using really weren't worth crap. And in anycase, well. The info you added isn't quite... useful. Flowering obviously doesn't happen overnight. And not many companies will call their product "Bloom boom" because of copyrights for names and such.
