A few strain suggestions for a new grower from some old school guys would be great...

This is my first post here or any similar site so big respect and thanks to you'al..

Putting it simply I've been on my trip for some years now and have smoked on and off for 20+ years.. i took a back seat on the weed in late 90's and was more into opiates and psychs for longer than i'd like to admit.. i smoke rarely now and do anything else even less..haha.. when i was first smoking there was an abundance of choice.. coming from UK we had numerous different varieties around including Indian Charas, Moroccan, African and Lebanese Hash and numerous different local and imported bag weeds.. hydro was a relatively new thing that come about when i was starting to get into other stuff and never really floated my boat anyway.

Putting it simply.. i love cannabis whether to smoke or grow, admire or whatever.. there is a magic in the plant and i cant deny it, but in the last few years weed doesn't agree with me most of the time and Hash or Charas is hard to get locally. If i smoke hydro its too strong, fucked up, unsociable and totally unpleasant, so I'm looking at growing my own outdoor which has a more natural old school hit and am looking for good recommendations.

I have spent a long time in the Middle east and Asia.. up near Afghanistan, Hindu Kush, Karakorum, Kashmir, through Parvati.. Kullu.. Himachal Pradesh, Nepal, through the Golden Triangle..down the Mekong delta all over the show many times for many years, i used to love the smoke and have no problems.. the smoke was sociable and had an energy which was some what cleaner when compared to the local stuff .. so whats goin on..?? is it me getting old and need a lighter smoke or is Hydro getting just a bit too much and maybe missing the point entirely, im smoking bout a joint a year now but want to hook up regularly with my ol'friend who is missed dearly..

So guys, recommendations for a true outdoor Asian style strain thats not too messed about with and a reliable seed site too if possible..not too heavy or trippy.. clean and sociable..

sounds to me that you prefer sativas over indica's... sativa's give that soaring, social, motivational high while indica's are the opposite end of things.. indica's are more heavy, a body stone, what people refer to as couch lock.. you know the kind of bud that you smoke and don't feel like getting up off of the couch to do anything other than go fix yourself a snack or two, lol..
i too prefer sativa's as i'm lazy enough without the added stone from heavy indica's... there are plenty of nice sativa's out there now adays, but not a lot of them are going to be good to grow outdoors, especially in rainy england.. one that sticks out in my mind for you would be something like c99, or cinderella 99... although it's a sativa dominant strain, it finishes flowering very quick, which is very unusual for a sativa dom strain.. it finishes in around 55 days or so from the flip, yet gives that clear headed, motivational stone that it sounds like you enjoy..
there are a few breeders out now that are working with c99.. one of which is mosca negro.. they sell their seeds over at the attitude seedbank, which i personally love and use often..
another breeder who has a c99 strain out now is called bog, or bushy old grower.. you can pick up bogs gear at the seed boutique.. i've also used them as well and have never had an issue with them at all..

Sounds like your into that clear feel good high. I have had a lot of good experiences with different hazes, particularly with the Haze x NL. It is all old school genetics and the Northern Lights Indica background buffs up the yield. There are a lot of new Sativa dominant strains that I hear great things about, but have never tried, but i'll drop TGA Subcool's lineup out there for ya, dudes got a pretty beefed up line of meds.

I dont know if its still in supply, but sensi seeds had a strain called stonehenge, cambodian genetics. Greenhouse seeds has some arjans haze that varies depending on which one that are thai, cambodian, laos. The deal is this, that stuff from back in the day may be more pleasureable to you but it takes longer, is less stable, and yields less than most modern strains and as such are almost never commercially grown. Its usually only grown by people who keep it and dont release it to the market. So yes, that same high is out there to grow, just not buy usually.
