A few questions on power usage and and opinions.

Ok so first I wanna know if I got a good setup for a good price, I wont being setting up anything soon but this is for future use.

-7x4 ft. tent with mechanical arm that goes back and forth to move the lights
-4x4 tent
-3 lightbulbs I am pretty sure 2 are hps and im not sure about the other one 500-600 watts
-2 lighting fixtures
-2 balasts
-fan with carbon filters
-wires and timers for the setup

I got all of this for 300, did I get a good deal?

How much would it cost monthly if i were to run one of the lights? with the tent and air filter whats the smell like? how many plants in how many months for the 4x4 tent?

thanks!!!

your questions are all over the place man. theres no real accurate way to reply to a lot of your posts for a few reasons. peoples electricity rates are different.which light? how many hours per day? ya see. with the tent and air filter... well its kinda like theres not a smell. kinda why you wanted it right? if your carbon filter is still good it should exhale a sweetish sorta smell. in the 4x4 tent , how many months depends on several variables all up to you. so I guess the only part of your post I could actually reply to given the information I have, it DOES sound like you got a good deal. good luck to you

In the right hands it's a good deal. I would replace bulbs and filters if I didn't know the run times.

I think that's a wise move not to use this equipment until you know these answers. I wouldn't ask the forum for the answers either. These are very basic questions that show you are not ready to grow. Read some books like...Mel Frank's "MJ Insiders Growers Guide". http://www.amazon.com/Marijuana-Grow.../dp/0929349008, search Cervantes marijuana grow on youtube.

There is a ton of growing info you don't know yet. Invest in your gardening knowledge and save yourself some real headaches, time, and money down the road.

RIU is a great place to post your grow journals when you get started. Here is one of mine: https://www.rollitup.org/newbie-central/654674-im-ready-blue-og-white.html

I spent five months researching and building my closet. Others just wing it. You can imagine the difference in results when you don't know what you are doing. I want you to succeed and have an enjoyable experience.

Your welcome to subscribe and friend me. Be happy to help you out along the way.

it depends what technique you'll be going for in the 4x4 SCROG, SOG, LST, Supercropping or a mixture of some. most would say six if you'll let them do what they want with some tying down topping and light trimming or four for a SCROG and I'm unsure as to SOG but I do know it's more than the others. the number of plants to space will determine the overall time, if you cram them in it will be a shorter veg to avoid overcrowding in flower if you go for a SCROG with four you'll be vegging until the plants are 2 inches or so above the net which is approximately 4-6 weeks depending on the strain and phenotype, and if you go with one or two you'll allow more time to veg in order to fill the space. Keep in mind most plants will double in size during the stretch.

I'd also advise you to set up your system to gauge the temperatures and size of the space, I recently bought a complete kit set it up and had major heat issues, low 100's :O!! I quickly got on here and was advised to buy or look at getting an air cooled hood and secondary high velocity 6 inch extractor fan. Better to get the kinks worked out in advance, I have a week to wait before I can even see if what I have ordered will work, it should, but I already germinated my seeds and they all popped up last night through the soil. Luckily they'll be ok with the weather at the moment and when I fix the issues I'll transplant them to hide any unwanted stretch in the stem. Bottom line though I thought they'd be under lights right now, I'd want to avoid my mess if I were you especially considering you don't know how long any issues will take to resolve, I was lucky I think....

Is a air cooled hood the lighting fixture with a hose attachment on it? I have two of those and an extra extractor fan as you mentioned. Thanks to all of you very helpful I will be doing lots of research before I start anything. I was curious rhough I have a aerogarden that doesnt use much power could I veg em with that then stick em in the tent for flowering with the strong lights to save power?

an air cooled hood or cool tube ( 2 different versions ) is an encased light with vent holes for ducting and fans to be connected so air will be blown over the bulb and straight out of the tent to lower heat issues. I will have two extractor fans one for out take and to cool the hood and one for intake. Vegging under CFL's would reduce cost I would think, the Aero Garden sounds good too though man if it's a low power consumer, what lights are in there? *Edit I put tube instead of hood, I hear they are very different in quality*

yeah man what I do for now. JUST REGARDING VENTELATION. one 6 inch fan hooked up to the hood for heat. with flexible ducting going out of the tent , because obviously I dontt wanna suck co2 , air , smell out of flowering and into my attic right ? ya dig? inside the tent is a 6 inch fan hooked up the a carbon filter, once again ducted to out of the tent. this takes the smell out plus small ammounts of heat . then I have a 4 inch intake fan with variable controls speeds. this makes it where I can change the negative or positive pressure in the tent to where iwant to controletemps and humidity. dude don't hesitate to PM me . more than happy to help
