A few growing details

Hello all! I have completed my first and second grow 15 years ago but i feel like i want to do it again. I want to ask you a few questions regarding some details that i need to clarify before starting because some things changed in my setup and i want to make sure everything is ok.

1. In the past I have used a Philips 400W HPS for growing and i want to know if is still a good choice or i can use some other options such as those ordinary LED light bulbs classic shape that can be found in many stores.

2. Back in the days I have used soil for Citrus together with BioBizz organic nutes, but can't find citrus soil anymore but have seen flower soil and vegetables soil. Which one do you think it's more suitable?

3. My previous grow was completed during the summer, in the basement, where temperature was constant: 22°C/71°F. Things changed and now i want to do it in the attic, but during the summer the temps can be around 27-30°C/80-86°F. I can use a vent to cool things a bit, but it will still be hotter at least for a few weeks in July-August. Do you think that it will be ok considering that i will grow some strains that Sensi Seeds say are suitable for Sunny/Mediterranean climate zone?

1. Yes HPS is still good to grow with, and yes you can use household style screw in LED bulbs if you wanted.

2. In the last 15 years coco coir has become a very popular soil-less hydroponic medium. Might be easier to obtain, and give you more satisfying results. I would argue that its easier than growing in soil..

3. Better insulation and a good ventilation system can probably fix that issue.

I'm not sure about the first one, but about the hudroponic medium - a mix of mineral wool, coco coir, perhaps some moss-contained ones will do. But you can many others to a good result. As for the temperature - actually the plants will feel kinda okay in 25-27 degrees, some can also feel good with 30 if the strain is heat-resistant, but if you want to make the temperature lower - bring the bigger fan I guess. Not the air conditioner though

If you build an array for regular screw in bulbs, make sure to remove the diffuser “bulb” part that covers the led circuit… essentially each bulb will be a COB unit (circuit on board). You can choose your spectrum, or mix spectrums to get a fuller spectrum. For example, mixing 4000k and 6500k for benefits of veg and flower

What about the lowest a plant can survive? I know that if i start on summer, i may enter the winter during the floweri g phase and i wonder how low can the plant take

Depends on the strain some can take it not as much as others and some can handle days of snow and frost its a pretty hardy plant one that will suprise you sometimes but they say as a general rule below 10 c isnt good for em it just stalls growth
