a few concerns before I begin...

I am about to start and I have (as the title of the thread states) some concerns. I am going to be running this in soil. I have a 1 to 1 mix of FFOF and Happy Frog and I plan on starting in a pocket of Happy Frog only. The first problem is that upon ph'ing the mix u got readings in the range of 6.8. This seems a tad high. Any advise on this? Also, I'm a little concerned about straight Happy Frog being a bit hot for an auto seedling. Should I mix in some perlite?

You can mix in some perlite or flush it some. I never worry about PH of organic soil and I dont even have a meter. A good organic soil full of beneficial bacteria shouldn't have ph problems. I always use some myco with fully rooted clones

Your ph is cool. Anywhere from 6.0 to 7.0 is ok. And yes happy frog is a good soil to start seedlings. I've started all my seeds in it. It may be good to add some perlite to the soil. Any soil benefits from the extra drainage.

Beware bro, the two smallest plants in the garden are autos... one looks pathetic... like a Charlie brown Christmas tree and the other looks slightly pathetic with a real nice funky smell and trichomes covering it. But its still small...

i agree with this line of thinking....

secondly, happy frog shouldn't be too hot for seedlings imo.. i know a lot of people say that ocean forest is too hot for seedlings, although i've never had an issue personally, and i believe ocean forest is the hotter of the two..
