A Fed Questions for My First Grow

Hey guys, sorry for the noob questions but I could use some assistance.

1. One of my seedlings has the seed casing attached to the top of the plant. Should I remove this or let it come off itself? Did I plant it upside down? lol
2. When should I turn the lights on for the seedlings? Should I have the extractor fan on or leave this off for the moment?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

1.Some people remove it,I just leave it to fall off naturally, which it will.
2.You should be giving your seedlings light from the start. What light are you using? You wont need your extractor fan on unless your running a big light that puts out alot of heat,or if youre growing in a small space.Good luck bro

Keep an eye on the helmet headed seedling. Normally they fall off, but i've had a few that wanted to stick around. I just --->GENTLY<--- pry them open and remove with the ass end of a needle.

How long should I wait before trying to remove it myself? It has been ~2 days since I noticed the seed with the case attached.

Thanks

dude, having recent experience with exactly the same issue I would suggest leaving it to naturally fall off…..

keep the humidity up to help with giving strength to your new seedling,

I cannot be certain but I had two seedlings that popped which were the same strain and both had the same issue, after 3-4 days i decided to pull the shell away….. alas they seem stunted so had to discard…

from my experience allow nature to take care of it… peace bro and good luck….

Give it a few days.As I said you can remove it,but the way I see it why risk hurting your girl at such a vulnerable stage?!Obviously as the seedling grows it will fall off

get the light on now bro, I would still have the seedlings in a humidity dome for a few days yet….. lights not too close especially hps….

Thanks for the replies.

I have set the lights on a 18/6 cycle and started the light this morning. The seedlings are in a propagator and have been since planting. The light is about 2 feet from the top of the propagator, humidity was ~45% in the tent (outside the dome) and the humidity inside the propagator seems to be okay (a lot of condensation on the inside).

It might also be worth mentioning that the seedlings are whitish in colour. They only sprouted ~2 days ago so I just wanted to check whether this was normal?

Cheers

Once they're out of the ground I don't think it's a good idea to keep them inside a propagator, or any sort of enclosure that keeps the humidity pegged. As far as I know people only shoot for 100% humidity during germination. After that get 'em out in the open where they can breathe. I had a small PC fan blowing (gently!) on ours within a day or two of sprouting.

From my limited experience I'd say it's abnormal for two day old seedlings to look whitish. The stem maybe, but the little cotyledon leaves should be green. Do a google image search for "marijuana sprouts".
