A couple of aero questions....

Here's a few pics of my setup. On the shot showing the reservoir, under the black coffee lid is a cottage cheese container that looks like Michael from Godfather, which has cheese cloth inside filtering the return water. The next day after I added nutes I noticed the brown on the roots, kinda freaked me out, see the pic. The new root growth doesn't have it, it's all perty and clean looking. It doesn't feel slimy or anything, just ugly. The pic may not be good enough to see, but is it possible for nutes to like stain my otherwise pristine roots? I'm pretty sure it was Humboldt Roots that was the culprit, it was really brown. On the shot showing all 6 plants, the back row from left to right is white widow, blue widow, violator kush. Front row left to right white russian, orange bud and starring daddy's girl, LSD. The 2 headstones on the right are in honor of the 2 that didn't survive, and the fact that I didn't have any other seeds.
Thanks again for the help and advice. I've learned a lot so far and have a long ways to go.

Thanks you guys for your input. I put this system together from info I found online: 1 each bigass tub, about 27 gal size, with 8 sites in the lid, but I only have 6 plants going. I used 1/2" pvc for the manifold that has 24 nozzles. There is a drain in the bottom of this tub going back to the reservoir, through a cheesecloth filter. I'm using a 396gpm pump. The reservoir is 8 gal. Running a total of 250watts of LED 18/6. My pump runs 1 on/4 off, non adjustable, duh, so shopping for an adjustable type. I have a fan running on the plants, the temp stays around 80 degrees. My water sucks ass, my mighty fine meter reads 760ppm before adding anything. I've been flushing/cleaning the reservoir, pump and stuff weekly, so this week I think I'll check out some decent water, and ultimately into an ro system or something. What do you guys use? Anyway, that's my story. No experience, but I learn fast. Thanks for all of your help.
My water sucks but not that bad i use a 35 GPD R.O system that i got from a place online called Marine Depot its an aquarium supply i got the whole two stage system for like 90 $ it has a carbon prefilter that will remove chlorine and chloramine effectiveness depends on good water pressure into the unit. I get between 5 and 11 PPM on a hanna meter after treatment. It made all the difference in the world in both bubblers and areoponics my plants in veg grow .5 to 1 " a day. Thats the way i roll.

Looks a little too hot. Your thermometer read 87 degrees! Lower it down to around 72-75 degrees. What are your reservoir temps? Hopefully around 65-68 degrees. Some of the organic ingredients may stain your roots. And I hear the Humboldt Roots is fairly strong so use it lightly. Good luck.

If the brown is like goo and the roots its attached to fall apart between your fingers, then its root rot. If they stay intact then its just the nutes. Heard that 1ml bleach per 50 gallons water can kill this root rot/fungus without harming the roots. Anyone ever tried bleach? I had to cut my timers back 15 on/ 60 min off and theyre still doing fine. yours look fine besides overwatered but take a pic without the LED or bring in an incadescent bulb to take a pic, everythings so purple I cant tell. These are what mine look like in perfect health @ 3 weeks into VEG and probably a lot more nutrients than you. H&G, botanicare, Mad Farmers, superthrive, theyre still very white as long as they continue to grow. This go around Im changing my watering cycles by watching the roots and making sure they get dry for a short time. I can notice a problem more quickly by glancing at the roots.
PS 87 is way too hot!! I keep it between 55-77, without any AC. I thought one of the key points of LEDs were to not create heat? How are you getting that hot? No ventalation?
