I am a first time grower,I have experimented in the past but not all the way through.I am 5 and a half weeks into flowering using a 150w HPS lamp, miracle grow soil, schultz 10-15-10 plant food for veg. and expert gardener 10-52-10 for flowering, and my single female is doing great for my first.alot of the problems i've had during this planting is I was very limited on cash,so I had to find what works not only for me but my budget as well. After doing a little research I found that with a little effort you can do the whole process cheaper than you think. So here is a couple of things you can do without any fancy equiptment.
Ajusting PH-you can purchase this kit at Wal-mart in the aquarium section for $5 bucks by API(ph test kit),It comes with solution, glass tube, and a card to read the PH.next when you get home test your tap water,I have city water and the ph was around 7.2/7.6. I was using ditilled water but after testing two different brands I found both brands were in the 6.0 range.so I experimented a little and found that if you mix a quarter of a galon of distilled and the other 3 quarters tap water you can get a PH around 7.2/7.0 (i'm just going by the ph that I am looking for yours may be different)so you can do the mixing to get the one you prefer.I don,t know yet how to raise the ph using this method depends on what PH your tap is.
Making your own c02- you can buy a small container of vinegar for 70 cents at wal-mart and baking soda for $1.00 and put some of the vinegar in a bowl then adding a teaspoon of baking soda and wala! you just created c02,I just sit the bowl inside the closet to allow the c02 to spread throughout the area.
I hope this helps someone out there..PEACE!!!
