A 4ft by 2ft SCROG with fluorescents

Hello,

Im currently giving a new light a try, but I have no experience with fluorescents. I have a 4ft long 2ft wide T5HO panel and im thinking about giving SCROG a shot. This the best method for these types of lights, or is there another type of training that works better?

If I did do it, I was thinking of making a three and a half foot long by one and three quarters foot wide screen to fit right under the light. Probably use two plants, or one if I can bush it out enough to fit that shape.

Im just looking for tips and input for both the light and the method.

Thanks for any help!

Hey ive done a couple runs like you're describing and while you can have a successful scrog grow with florescents there are other training methods such as lst that I personally have found to produce better qaulity and yield. But thats me. this is your grow so tackle it however you feel confident. Monitor your plants during the veg cycle and always account for the height/width stretch that happens when you switch them to flowering. Some of my sativas have doubled in height after the switch. But I've seen some of my buddy's grows with cfls with buds growing up the center of the bulb so you do have the added benefit of flouros. I had an awesome pdf. File on training methods. Ill look for it after work. Ill try and post it. Are you growing in soil or hydro?

Hey Rockin, thanks for the reply :blsmoke:

Im growing in soil, FFOF. I have that four foot eight bulb T5 sunblaze light I plan on using, probably just stick with that by itself.

Sounds like a nice setup. I've been checking out some of these vscrogs done completely with flouros. I'm amazed by the yields these people get and its got me thinking of giving my hps/mh lights a little rest and bust out the old cfls.

I'm gonna stay tuned to this grow because im in the same boat as you. As to how many plants i wanted to use under my next scrog. I wanted to try two and if things get out of hand and i can veg one out bushy enough just use one. as long as you get about seventy percent of your screen full before you switch to flower you should be good with one. Two just seems better to me. But I'm no expert. Anyway goodluck!

Thanks a ton Rockin', I just got six clones taken last night :weed:

Ill probably try to use two like you said, just to make sure the screen fills. My mother is still prefering the 100W LED to the T5's, so im curious to see how the lights compare. Im thinking the LED just has the preferred spectrum down where the T5 will pump out more light overall.

Ill update here as I go I think. Wont be much, but ill at least let you know how things end up! See ya around bro.
