So have a new room to go to work in.
Blank slate. U.P. of MI basement, in an unused commercial building. Ample electrical capability. Most of the other details as far as ventilation, climate control and such will be addressed accordingly once lighting is determined.
This is where I'm looking for input.
I'm an experienced LED DIY builder, I know what it would take to get this room ripping with diodes, but that has its own set of challenges, and investment cost.
I'm also experienced in setting up many smaller basement grows, and dealing with the wild swings of ambient temperatures, and humidity, as the seasons progress here in Da UP.
Soil grows, usually in 10ga, but I peel off a 25 gallon Honker on occasion. I'd like to run 4 x 25ga in the middle of that room.

So how much f'n HPS are we talking here? I've only run single ended HPS, and I currently run a few 315 CMH areas( love em), but these DE HPS 1000s have been giving me a boner....

i think 50/60 watts per ft2 is where they are at with the DE hps. So at 50/ft2 your gonna want 4 x 1ks de?

Treat them just like your old SE HPS but with about 10% more output.

And they don't need to be 15 feet away from the canopy lol. Again normal SE HPS with a little more output.

Well.... I've gone and done it now!!
I ordered 4x1000 DE HPS adjust a wingers..
Cuts are picking up steam in #1 nursery squares. Running my most well known horse.
There will be enough unknown unknowns, needed the cultivar to be a known known, ya know?
I've been salivating over the idea of filling up that room for a few years.
Once the equipment arrives, there is absolutely no way I can resist putting it all together.
Now I'm "pot committed" so to speak.
Here's to new "growth" in my skillset!!!
