8 lamp t5 lighting

is there an affordable red led to help bloom ii haven't ben able to find any info on anyone doing this accept for a woman growing lettice on utube .I ben reasearching for day's on end induction = to much money for the lamp hid to much money in power here in cally just want a small relitivley low mainanance grow.. pls excuse my distruction of proper grammer )

which: LED or T5 ...you can get either types of units on both ends of red & blue.... for T5 "Kitchen & Bath" or Warm white is more towards the red, and they make plenty of bulbs between 6500-10K in T6 HO's .... LED's; you won't have any problem finding pre-built units for either grow or bloom ....

seriously considering getting a 8 lamp 4 ft t5 just not sure that would handle my lighting needs for a medical grow

I take it you change your bulb set for veg an flower ?this will be my first grow ..

I'm thinking of personally getting the Sunleaves Pioneer Designer T5 8 lamp for my veg room, and then a Ushio 1000w Super HPS Lamp (2100k color temp, 146,000 lumens). The T5 won't be that bad, but when I kick in the HPS it'll add to the pain. But the harvest will more than pay for it all.

An 8 bulb x 54w= 432w x whatever your cost per Kw is. I prefer the BB as it has proper reflectors and cut outs for better heat dissipation. The bulbs do get hot enough to cook buds and leafs that come in contact. See my newest pics for examples. If I were starting today, I would go with led tubes/panels

I don't so much change bulbs as I do add bulbs.

No need to use more than 2 bulbs for veg. Once the babies get enough leaf structure to handle more light I simply add 2 more bulbs. Mix and/or match to your pleasure. It's fun playing SunGod. Mua-hahahahahahaha

so in your opinion I might be better off going with a T8 light to start out then later I could upgrade some led tubes?..I stoped by home depot after work damn those H/O t5 lights are bright they had a single led tube for a bill all white very bright...To bad no led replacements for the h/o t5...

I have a 2' 4 bulb t5 light I use for starting seedlings/clones and even that draws almost 100w. I'm assuming an 8 lamp fixture would draw close to double that. If you are talking 4' you are talking even more power. By the time you buy that, which isn't cheap, then throw some expensive leds in there, you might as well get a 250w or even 400w digital HID system. You can run both mh and hps in a digital ballast and the quality and quantity of the finished product will be much better.

Dude MH is great but the amount of energy isn't worth it. You keep a 4' 8 bulb T5 close to the canopy that you are maintaining and keeping at an even level: Your results will be CLOSE to using a MH, minus paying for more energy and having excessive heat. I veg the top 2' of my room and flower the lower 6'. The "Dual Spectrum" works still

LED tubes are wired differently than hot5s. Meaning you can only put each in their same tombstone positions. A drawback in my opinion. And frankly, hot5s are on the way out for several reasons

1. they light in the round (360*s) even with quality reflectors most of the back side (the side not directly hitting the plants= ~ 180*s) is wasted- so a 54w tube in effect is 27 watts or ~= led tube

2. Mercury vapor. I posted a youtube link in my thread. It's a must to watch. Cannot be cleaned up

3. Bulb replacement. Good hot5 bulbs cost $20-40$, + shipping + extra charges to wrap/handle. Also 9 months of constant 12-18hr/day use takes a large toll on actual output

How do you pay for more energy with a 400w mh vs 432w of t5?



Here´s how i would figure which system to buy.

Do you have excessive heat around your parts and no way to properly went a room?

Then t5 might be for you. (the heat Is the same, but its more spread out.)

Do you have a low space? 4 feet and less in height?

Then t5 might be for you.

Do you dislike constantly fiddling with your plants every day? (lst and scrog.)

Then h.i.d might be for you. (with a light source further away and more space to do everything, gardening is less work.)

Do you have a at least 4 foot tall space that you can went? (whether box or room.)

Then h.i.d might be for you.


t5 and h.i.d are sorta comparable but t5´s are more work to get almost the same. (h.i.d outdoes them.)

I dont remember fans being that much electricity..

But yeah , that is another point in favor of t5´s, you can use more quiet fans.

Though another h.i.d point is that you buy 1-2 bulbs every year, instead of 8 bulbs every year.

i'm curious how a 4 led tube flowering light would match up with a 400w hid .most of what I have ben reading up on was on induction lights .They look very nice but the price tag is to much for me ...
