7th Grow: Hempy Bucket w/auto watering

Looking nice man. I can see all the little trichomes everywhere. What kind of a difference are you seeing in flowering from your last grow?
It's hard to say, but the flowers appear to be bigger than in my previous grows. Still got a couple weeks to grow some more. We'll see when I trim all the buds on harvest day. Then the final proof is the dry weight. But right now I can only say that the plant's main branches "look" like they're more covered with flowers than on previous plants of mine. Of course there's another caveat that I'm growing a new strain of pot this time that I never grew before. It might simply be genetically more productive. Anyway, I've got high hopes for this plant. I'll post new pics tomorrow probably, to compare to the last set.

Took a bunch of pictures today. Can't honestly say that I see more visible growth since my last shoot on the 29th, but I got more angles here:

Flushing the roots now with pure water. Will change the water with fresh nutes tomorrow.

It's almost 60 days now huh? How much longer do you think you're going to let her go? Btw how many actual watts do you have in your cabinet?

Actually, today is only day 49. 60 days is the maximum grow length. But I'll probably harvest before then, since my plant seems pretty mature already. It suddenly smells stronger than any other plant I've grown. People coming in the door of my house really notice it.

Here's the plan:
  1. Tomorrow I'll change the water with fresh nutes one final time. I started flushing the roots with pure water a little while ago.
  2. One week later I'll start flushing for a few days with the lights turned off longer and longer, probably around 8 hours/day. I'll add Final Phase to help draw out the unused fertilizer.
  3. After a few days of flushing, I'll chop it down and harvest. Probably around the 20th, which would be 59 days of flowering.

The 2 CFL's are 200 watts each. Not sure what the light box is. So I got a lot of watts, but I'm using fluorescents because my space is so tight in my stealth cabinet. With fluoros the plant can grow right up to within a couple inches of the lights. You can't do that with a hotter lamp.

Looks about ready for harvest! Some of the trichomes on the buds are getting milky white and the hairs are turning red. These are the first closeups that I've looked at, so I didn't know she was ready until today. I should probably start the final flush pretty soon.

Wow man, that's beautiful. I can't wait to see what you pull off of her. It's definitely gonna be HIGH quality haha.

A pretty small harvest this time, because the plant was so short… I need to make my cabinet taller somehow. Just chopped her down yesterday. Here are the pics:

From left to right, 2 containers of buds on the table, white bucket of fan leaves and branches and a pail half full of sticky leaves and immature buds for making canna butter:

Scissor hash from trimming. Really got me stoned last night.

Sweet dude! Can we get some close ups? And what was your wet weight? It looks like you'll have at least a couple ounces of some primo when it dries. That's pretty good considering the stress to the plant with the light falling and this is your first grow with the hempy setup. I'm really glad I decided to do it and I appreciate the support. It's pretty convenient to be able to get on RIU and learn this stuff and even more convenient to be able to get advice.

I think a couple ounces would be an estimate at the high side. We'll see once it dries out. I don't bother weighing it wet. Here are closeups of the biggest buds after trimming them:

I always try to trim off all of the dark green stuff that I can, because they contain too much chlorophyl to smoke. It makes the smoke too harsh. I save them for making canna butter to make cookies out of. These buds will make some good smoke.

I got 81 g total bud for smoking, no stems to speak of because I cut as many out as I can.

57.3 g are from bigger buds that grew on thicker stems and
23.9 g are from fluffier buds on skinny stems.

I still got a pile of sticky, green leaves and immature buds that I haven't weighed yet, but I won't smoke those. They're strictly for baking.

So the yield isn't quite as bad as I thought.

Potency:
It seems about as strong as the "LSD" strain that I usually grow. The high just seems to creep up on me a little slower for some reason.
