Half the BTUs of what? The heat has to go somewhere.

And I have seen a room with about 100 ducted lamps in it though. I imagine that was a pain the ass to set up.

we have the blind leading the blind in here.
From a thermodynamics stand point, it does NOT matter. 1000W of heat is 1000W of heat. It needs to be removed in some manner.

Being an HVAC engineer myself, I feel you might be the one with blurred vision on the subject.

it doesn't take an "HVAC engineer" to realize that there is a massive difference between cooling a room filled with air cooled lamps versus a room filled with open air lamps.

but please carry on for my entertainment. joe too, even though he's a creepy clinger.

And if he is using a Gavita, is seems your argument doesn't make any points. All the heat of the bulb will be spread through the room.

this coming from the guy who dried his plants over boxes of overflowing catshit?

Need I say more?

I like you buck but you'll understand if I don't take offense to your strange attitude tonight. Perhaps it's the ammonia. Vent your house buddy :)

So tell me then, where does the heat go? Sure, less of it builds up in the grow room, but it doesn't change the fact that it is still there and still has to be taken care of.

This forum has tons of egos I see. Everyone is the best grower and always there to criticize others. I enjoy the free entertainment.

Welcome to the industry of "I know more than you." Some times I wonder why I got into it doing something as simple as HVAC.

what am I missing here? The heat goes out the exhaust in active cooling. Without active air cooling you'll need roughly double the cooling capacity I have found.

Although, I find the DE HPS to be a sub par bulb based on the spectral analysis I've done on it compared to some other bulbs.

To aircool the lights, where you get the air? If from inside you blast CO2 outside and your AC has to cool makeup air. if you get air from outside then it can't be too hot out and if it's too cool out your duct and hoods will condense water out of grow air makin it rain.

400 lights, aircooling would direclty move 30 tons of heat but the source of the air is not factored in. Is it worth the 30 tons to keep CO2 and not have to condition makeup air from outside?
