62 Days into Flower - Advice Needed!

Greetings all! This is the first grow for around 8 years so a little rusty... I'm currently at 62 days of flowering (Liberty Haze) but wondered if I could get a couple of things confirmed. (Pics attached)

Setup

Lighting: 600 HPS
Grow Room: 1.2, long, 1.2 wide,1.5 high (meters)
Strain: Liberty Haze - Barneys Seeds(Grown from Clones)
Medium: Soil
Nutes: Biobiz Grow/Bloom, PK13/14 (week 7)

1) On a couple of the main colas there still seems to be new, vigorous, white haired growth of buds shooting out. I understand the liberty haze is Sativa dominant but to see new white haired fresh green looking buds appearing after 62 days has left me a bit confused.

2) I have been using Biobiz organics (Grow & Bloom) and after researching I found that the bloom contained no Nitrogen and told to supplement that by using 1/2 measure of 'grow' to full measure of 'bloom'. I have gradualy been cutting down the 'grow' as didn't want to overdo it with N during the flowering stage. My question: Is it now safe to cut the 'grow' out altogether after 62 days?

3) I have recently given them PK13/14 boost during week 7 and haven't noticed any adverse affect, is it advisable to give any during week 8? I have read that it must be used very selectively during the right times.

4) I'm thinking I may have another 4 or 5 weeks to finish these off as they don't seem anywhere near ready to me, there still appears to be fresh green growth... Just wanting a few opinions on this please

Thanks is advance, Peace! Dr Kronic

I believe that extra bud growth is called foxtailing. It seems to be more dominant with Sativa strains. I have two Sat. Dom. Hybrids that are foxtailing right now. The trichomes are not showing much amber at all so I'm just riding it out. You can find plenty of info about foxtailing around the web.

Thanks for the info BWG! It's first time I have heard of foxtailing... I think it may be down to my HID getting a little close to some of the main colas and grow temps a little high (hard to avoid in my current situation)

I heard that most Sativas are hard to see a lot of amber, so it's better to harvest when you have a lot of cloudy trichs (80-90%).

Also, with Sativas, you want less amber anyways because Sativas are more mental highs and that's what cloudy trichs give ya.

For 10 weeks, that's right in harvest zone, 10-12weeks.

I can't tell a lot from the picture but closer, better ones would help.

If you can't figure it out, snip a small bud off and do a regular air dry like you're going to cure, then smoke when dry. Depending on the somewhat high you'll get compared to cured bud, you can tell what kind of buzz the bud will be.

Thanks for the reply ADT. I have managed to get a slightly closer shot but the current camera I have here isn't great!

...high man and welcome back to the hobby.

anyway, if you're anything like me then your pictures don't do any justice to your plants so you have to trust your own eyes, if you're still seeing new growth then you want to let her go if you can, ...here's a couple of shot's of a couple freebies i flowered in 3liter coco hempy's that i was culling because i was at week 19 and she still wasn't done, no way was i ever gonna run a 19 week cycle so these pics are all that's left, lol.

...these next are closer in where you can clearly see she was still throwing new pistils, even after 19 weeks.

...as to your question about the nitrogen i'd say yeah, it'd be a good idea to start backing off of the nigrogen after 62 days.

...and i've still to find good advice on how to use a PK booster properly, ...there's lot's of conflicting information on the topic and my results are pretty good ok without it, ...oh yeah, one thing i do know about PK boosters is that if you overuse them or use them at the wrong times you end up with an assload of foxtails rather than fat chunky buds, ...and i know this from experience which is why i've tried to focus on dialing things in perfectly before beginning to look for truly effective additives.

...so yeah, lol, i'd say trust your eyes bro, if you've done this before and you do some searching through some of the longer, better established threads for exemplars then i'm sure you'll know when you're done.

peace, bozo

Foxtailing is new bud growth and from what I've read, it's not a bad thing. I'm definitely letting mine go, it's packing on new buds why not. I'd keep a close eye on the Trics though.
